----------View and Add Fishing Reports on our Discussion Board-----------

Welcome to the fishing report section of the Lake St. Clair Network. My name is John “Mini” Maniaci. I am a tournament bass fisherman in this area and am on the lake as much as possible. Through “dock talk” and reliable friends that are on fish I am happy to provide this, the first of a bi-weekly report for everyone that enjoys the great angling opportunities on Lake St. Clair.

No matter how hard I try, I will not be able to compile all the information that you may like to see here, so we have set up a process that will allow anyone to submit a report to us. We can then pass along the information to everyone, and we can all stay on the fish! Everyone knows that catching is a lot more fun than fishing!.

Ideally we would like to have a separate report for the four major sport fish on Lake St. Clair:  Bass, Walleye, Perch & Musky. We will eventually get there but to start I am going to try to cover all the species in one report until the need arises to branch them off on their own.

We will also have a calendar of events that will cover tournaments and events related to fishing. You may also submit your event and/or tournament similar to the event calendar located in the general boating section of the site. With all that said and my little introduction over lets get to the FISH!!!!!!

Bass:
This is the species I have been targeting all my life and the one I seem to know the most about on Lake St. Clair. The past few years have been outstanding for both numbers and quality and this year seems to be no different with the exception of the BIG fish.

Walleye:
Good catches of walleye have been reported near the shipping channel in 18-22 feet of water on the American side using bottom bouncers/crawler harness combination. Hammred gold blades/Red beads seemed to be working best. There are also a lot of fish south of the XE2 buoy near Mitchell's Bay and off the tip of the Belle River Hump.

Perch:
There have been good reports of perch near the Grosse Pointe Yacht club in 10-14 feet of water. These fish are literally running for their lives because of the bass and musky, so you have to make a lot of moves. If you aren’t getting bit in a 15 minutes, move. Also you will need to take BOTH minnows and crawlers. They seem to be a little selective this time of year. I want to thank Douglas Moore from Bass Pro Shops for that report.

I also had good reports coming from the weed lines on the edge of the Middle Channel near the Clinton River Boat Club. Again on minnows and again you have to move from weed bed to weed bed and stay on top of them.
