Read this thread last Thursday and actually seen the thing Saturday morning on our way up to Lexington. Really weird. You could see it from miles away. Didn't see it on the way home yesterday.

Agreed

So now will there be no anchors rules on that side because of underwater cable?

I skimmed the document...
From pg 13...
They're building a road leading to a tower that's going to be 80' tall. The tower will have a fence (25' x 25') around it. The tower will be powered using green technology with a diesel generator backup, and a cable will be run from the Old Club, buried 4' deep. Construction is supposed to start 10/1/09 and end 12/23/09.

No mention of Tom what's-his-name or his foundation...

Yeah leaving it for further access but not to sound stupid but what is a bulkhead, some sort of landing spot?

never stupid questions! biggrin.gif

I guess that's what it is.... not sure what material they are using for that or the road....

the road will be barrior cloth for the entire base then 2-layers of clean fine crushed stone 1 foot thick for heavy equipment.....

So what happens when the water level changes again? Gull is a lot smaller this year compared to last year even.

More importantly, will the mayor of Gull Island have the road named after him?

It's in the document...
IIRC, the material is the ground, built up with gravel. I was going to copy & paste, but I didn't know how.
There's a sketch of where the tower and road will go, along with what the road will be made of.

I think the mayor's just been voted out of "office"...

The bulkhead appears to me to be more like a section of seawall where the road terminates. This would provide a better facility to get equipment from a barge to the island to install the generator and tower. I didn't see any detail about "depth".. only 20' long and 1 foot wide. It would seem that ice would move it around and pretty much destroy it if they didn't drive it into the ground, wouldn't it?

Wonder if they'll put a convenience outlet or two just in case we need to use a blender for the overnighters?? smile.gif
