my brother-in-law does not have a driver's license. (long story) but wants to get a fishing license. the only form of ID he has is a passport. anyone know if that is that good enough for obtaining a fishing license?

We picked up a Sportmans Card and childrens license for Heather, no ID required. Does he have a State ID card, that should be enough. Or check with Nautical Mile BP and see what they require, that's where we picked up Heather's.

I would think that a passport would be better than a driverse license?

just called and they said he needs a license or michigan state id. he has neither dry.gif he got the passport because it was actually easier to obtain than the state id card

ONLY WAY WOULD BE FOR HIM TO PURCHASE A NON RESIDENT LICENSE. $1.00 FOR DNR SPORTS CARD AND $34.00 FOR A RESTRICTED NON RESIDENT.

If he previously had a MI DL it should be much trouble at all for him to get a state issued ID card,

You're supposed to have a VALID driver license in order to use it to buy a fishing license. My cousin was turned down by 2 B&T's then we stopped at a party store near the lake & the guy did it for an extra $5.

My cousin didn't care because he wanted a fishing license. It was the party store by Dodge State Park (Whampler's Lake) in Irish Hills. It was about 5 years ago. I heard it's also a no-no to refuse a credit card as payment for a fishing license. I know it sucks to accept a CC for a lic when the store only gets $ .50. Wally's in Windsor wouldn't take my CC for my lic but did take it for the dozen Fin-S minnow packs I bought.

I thought this was recently....sorry.
There was a store owner up north who got busted a few years ago for charging extra and for voiding licenses and keeping the cash....about 26k. He spent a little time in jail and lost his business.
Canada may have different rules for CC's....they like to make up rules as they go!!! LOL
Live and let live I reckon!!!
