Well, I went out again today. Started at about 4:00 p.m. and fished 'til 7:30, just before dark. I would have fished a bit longer, but I ran out of bait. I used crawlers for bait and a perch rig on my rods. The bite was light, but pretty steady. They were not inhaling the bait. The bites were not good bites. They never really hit hard. Had to set the hook while they were biting light, or they would just clean you off. The wind died down to nothing at about 7:00, and the bite went way down at the same time. Did not try minnows, as I did that on Tuesday and did not get too much on the minnows.

I only brought 9 perch home today out of at least three dozen caught. I lost one more that I hit the shore with that was a good keeper size. He knew where the water was and jumped back in!! The smallest I kept was 8" and the biggest was 9-1/2 ". Nothing really huge, but good eating. All of the perch I cleaned were full of eggs, and in thier stomaches there were what appeared to be little tiny rockbass in almost every one of them. These rockies were only about 1/2 to 3/4 " in size. Some of the perch had two of them inside thier stomaches. I probably should have had minnows today! LOL These perch were in the Clinton River. You should be able to find them anywhere from the boardwalk in downtown Mount Clemens to the mouth of the river at the lake. The run is starting!!!

Thanks for the report, Iggy. Sounds like you had some open water fun and a meal to boot! Way to go!!! I'm guessing the back is better too!

That is where I caught the perch yesterday. I went back there today (Sat.) and caught only two keepers, and a small sucker. Minnows were the ticket at daylight for the first hour this morning (I did not have any again) and then they switched to worms. A lot of dinks. Saw one guy out there fishing off of the rocks next to the fishing pier (access site) and he showed me two perch that were about 11 inches, and he had four or five others in his bucket. He caught them all on minnows and he was out of there about 11:00 'cuz the bite quit earlier. I'll be out there again tomorrow early (with minnows & worms). The guy also said that he was doing much better in the spillway, but it was froze too much this morning to fish there, so that may be a better bet to try it there if the ice is gone out of the area.

Kyle, how did you do out there? Were you out in the A.M? I was there today (Sat) from 7:30 'til about 12:15. Slow day out there today.

edit: Kyle, I just noticed what time you posted that you would be going out there today. You are more than likely planning to go out there in the P.M. today. Let us know what you did.
