Took a little break from the Saginaw river and headed out to the Gino's area with the spear. I fished Wednesday from crack of dawn till dusk ended up getting 23 nice perch 9" all the way up to the biggest which was 14" which absolutely looked massive in the hole and it sure was when I pulled it up. We had a great day never moved, fish in the hole almost the whole time but they just had lock jaw. Big fish would come in groups of 3 to 4 but we could only pick one off at a time cause they did not want to bite anything so we bit them. Minnows seemed to attract them best. There are big fish down there guys and lots of them my advice is go get a spear because they just don't want to bite and its a lot of fun. Next time I go I can only fish a half day because after leaning over the hole for 10 straight hours the back wasn't to happy with me. Good luck guys go get them cause they are down there.

Way to get 'em Clownin. Thanks for the good report. If they are not biting, that's the way to get them, with the spear. I seen those big ones down there just kinda looking at the bait, but won't bite it. It is frustrating. With the spear, at least you have a chance to get a few when they have lock jaw.

Where were you fishing at Genos?

I bought one at Anglers Point yesterday for $48. Its kind of fancy, though. Stainless shaft, barbs, etc. They had some cheaper ones.

Thanks for the report, and finally someone is getting some sweet vengence on the lock-jawed jumbos LOL.

I know what you mean about the hurting back, we need a harness to attach to the ceiling so we can hang suspended over the hole all day :rofl

I'm not a fan of spearing perch. Man if you need a meal, cool. But don't just sprear a perch to have an extra lb of fish in the feezer. That huge sack of eggs will help sustain our fishery. Give the fish the credit...they got you today.

Ok your not a fan of spearing well I am. It's legal correct? Bottom line is there more then enough fish spawning in the lake if me spearing 25 perch is gonna hurt the population of fish then lake St. Clair is screwed.

I swear I must have seen 3 perch that were 16" but them really big ones will just sit on the edge of the hole just out of spearing range like they know what's going on it is ridiculous how many big ones are down there but just want nothing to do with the bait

My back feels stiff just thinking about a long day on the bucket. Glad you have some fish to show for it

They didn't get him today! Haha Like he said, if spearing perch hurt the population, it'd be illegal. Give the kid some props.
