There is someone there during the day but they may have been working in the shop. Call Blaz Marine.

Called Blas called everyone. People in the shop say don't know anything. You just don't leave for the winter if you are running a business.

Wait, I'm confused. Your first post said that you couldn't contact anyone. Your second post leads me to believe you talked to someone in the shop. Which is it?

People working in the rear shop don't have anything to do with the operation of the marina. So it obvious they had no information.

Blaz moved his shop/office to MacRay last season. But he still has "stuff" at Waypoint.

I am a Waypointe slip renter and was wondering the same thing. I've sent emails and made calls and haven't heard back. I know one of the mechanics so I texted him and he responded saying I should hear from them next week and not to worry. We'll see what happens...

All makes sense. Mr Lefever had a bonified "Option to Purchase" 5 or 6 yrs ago, but Harrison Twp's Planning Commission ultimately denied the proposed USE he intended for the property, with it's restaurant/bar & outdoor bandstand nightclub atmosphere.

That's a wonderful location on the shores of LSC, but it's downfall was a result the increased commercial Night club use of it being located at the dead end of a residential street.

That deal quickly fell by the wayside and the Luka family ended up leasing the property, or hiring onsite managers to run it. Dave Kliki tried as Blue Lagoon (one of the original old time names) and most recently it's my understanding Mr Dave Blaz took over a couple years ago.

All these operations have apparently failed, as that property, despite it's premium lakefront location, needs $$$ Millions in infrastructure upgrades, like expensive Seawalls, Dredging, Docks, Water & Electrical systems, onsite rest room / shower facilities, paving,,, ect...

This was all happening in the mist of a severe economic recession.

The Luka family obviously was in no position to continue operations, let alone invest what is needed for upgrades.

It will take a new investor with very deep pockets to bring that property up to modern, safe standards. Maybe there's some China money coming in.

I don't know if, or who it has sold to, but I always thought the next door neighbor, Eric Foster from Belle Maer would be the most likely buyer to succeed. He's already got his whole management system in place plus a lot of the infrastructure (hoists, repair shops, gas dock, ect) needed to operate a profitable & successful marina.

I sure would like to know what is happening there. My boat is sitting inside on a trailer and I am in Utah. This is the first I heard of something not right or so it seems. Dave Blatz and Kerry the manager at Mac Ray's are in it together and Dave Blatz and Kerry have a guy by the name of Al running it. I was told he has a contract there for another year which is this year. I built two docks in there last year and have another year to keep my boat there.

OK FOLKS, HERE IS THE SCOOP

It has been sold. At this point and time Al and Amanda have been told they need to find other jobs and that was their LOUSY Christmas present. They didn't quit or abandon the place. A lot of us really enjoyed how they ran it.

Nobody knows if they are going to be open for the 2017 season or if they will be refunding money. There is absolutely nobody in the office running the place.

My boat is in there and so is a huge pile of wood I was going to build another dock with. I am in Utah till April.

I will post more when I hear any more information.

I don't know if that would have been a good location. Great place for a marina or yacht club though.

Too bad Harrison Twp can't come up with a plan for their own 'Nautical Mile' though. They should take that stretch from the spillway to Harbor Club North and build it out. Either take out some of the residences, or enhance them with some dockage into the lake. Build out the stretch around Gino's with a wharf out into the lake and a couple all-year restaurants.

This is very interesting. If true, I'd be curious if it is related in some way to the imminent sale of Belle Maer. Is it possible that the same buyer was interested in both properties?
