There are two ramps near 9 Mile. One right at 9 Mile and the other at 9 1/2 Mile (Blossom Heath) but it looks like you have to be a city resident to use them.

http://scsparksrec.net/parksrec/boatramps.htm

Not sure if any of the private marinas down there have public ramps.

What kind of boating are you doing? Are you day boating or staying out overnight?

If you are overnighting, make the trek up to Harley Ensign at the end of South River Rd. You will not have an issue with leaving your vehicle there overnight like at some other sites.

There aren't any strangers out there, only friends we haven't met yet...

While they are not that close to Nine mile there is the private boat launch at the foot of Alter road in Detroit and the city boat launch on St Jean in Detroit.. They both put you on the Detroit river but they are pretty close to Lake St Clair and some of the best bass fishing is along the Grosse Pointe Shore Line.. Plus if you like Silver Bass or Walleye the Detroit River is the place to launch. smile.gif

Correct AP but it's a residents only launch. Non residents can now get a well there for $100 more then residents. Why, they are below 40% occupancy. I kept my boat there for 6 years and got tired of the non-service. Also InKahoots backyard ph34r.gif

There is a launch across from Fast-Eddie's Drive-in, next door to Beacon Cove on Jefferson. I think it's a DNR launch.

They call it the spillway. That's a good place, esp for smaller boats, but kind of far from the 9 mile area...

Isn't there a website that lists ALL state and federal launch sites for download? I had a list a few years ago with the address, number, and marina location. After paying a one time launch fee, you could launch at any of the state/federal launches. Anyone remember the website? I thought it was on the DNR website but I have been unable to locate it.
thank for any help.

The Nine Mile ramp is open to anyone. I know several folks from out of state who use it on a fairly regular basis.
However Eastpointe and SCS residents may purchase an annual pass for $60.00, all other must pay the daily fee of $10.00
Sometimes the guard at the shack will ask your zip-code, but I've never heard of anyone being turned away.
It is a small launch with only one dock and there sometimes is a wait to get in or out. There is a long walk from the parking area to the ramp, and lately it has been frequented by idiots, use at your own risk.
