Personally I wouldn't bother fishing there but it's worth a shot.

I can't remember exactly when it was but at least 10 years ago they drained the lake (most of it) to dredge it to remove all the toxins & PCB's out of there & removed ALL fish. A guy that was hired to do under water welding on the damn died when they did it.

When they drained it there were a chit load of carp removed & a couple of big LM & pike. After they were done dredging it they stocked it with gills & a year or 2 later they put in LM. Not sure what else they put in there but you can check the DNR stocking database. My buddy took his daughter there 2 years ago & caught nothing but 3" gills.

LSC has become over guided & over exposed & many good fishing spots have become over crowded no thanks to the Internet. Damn you Al Gore!!! Why did you have to invent the Internet?

They claimed to have removed the toxins.

I just looked it up & they stocked more than I thought.

Here's info on the dredging & stocking. http://www.rougeriver.com/techtop/newburgh/changed.html

If you go you might as well stop at the Lake Pointe Yacht Club (on the south side of the lake on Ann Arbor Rd.) for a burger & a beer or 3. biggrin.gif It's been over 10 years since I was last in there but they did have good bar food back then. wink.gif

I haven`t fished it for a few years but there used to be some nice bass and pike in it. Lots of panfish too. I drive by it everyday on my way to work and there has been a shanty on it for a few weeks. Here`s a continuation of the article Zib posted.

Hey Zib, the Yacht Club still rocks with great food, drinks and lotsa eye candy. biggrin.gif
God grant that I may live to fish until my dying day, and when it comes to my last cast I then most humbly pray. When in the Lords safe landing net I`m peacefully asleep, that in his mercy I be judged as big enough to keep.

All the 4-5" gills you want, there are pike to be had. Great place to take the kids. Summertime is good for LM bass.

Why is it that cargo is delivered on a ship and product delivered in a car or truck is called shipping???

i grew up fishing there all the time. they drained it and dredged it back it in the 40's or 50's and took all the contaminated soil and made an island out of it in the lake. when they did it agian about 10 years ago they took all the nasty soil and just added to the same island so all the nastys pcbs and all that crap is still there slowly leaching back into the water. it was never removed just relocated and more concentrated. the island is just to the right of the boat rental place. i belive now the island connects to the shore line there. its a nasty body of water and wouldnt keep anything you catch out of it.

I fished it a few years ago with my first inflatable boat. There are some nice Bass in that lake but since most people never access the lake with a boat a lot of the fish are untouched during the summer. Also if you do plan to boat there it is electric only and you must get a permit from Nakin mills.
