I doubt Americans will stop buying fruit...
initially, you may may see a slight drop in sales, but now that once unemployed Americans are picking fruit, more Americans are earning money, more Americans are spending money, and more Americans are contributing to the tax base, and now less people are dependant on welfare - both illegals because they are gone, and Americans because they are working

All the Saudi (read non-iraqi) 911 hijackers were here on student visa's. For the life of me I don't understand why we have student visa's. Sure, come here and learn then go back to your own country. WTF? AS for the southern border it's simple. Take all the soldiers currently in iraq and redeploy them. I fiqure one guy every 1/4 mile with an m16 should do the trick. No fences, guns.

Actually the list of countries is a little longer than just the United Kingdom and France for entry under VWP (visa waiver programme) and you are subject US-VISIT screening which involves the taking of two digital finger prints, and a digital photograph, and checks against CBP databases. Liberalism/Socialism!

The time is now to infect all invaders with liberalism -- especially Al-Qaida! They will soon be weakened and dysfunctional, and stop bothering us!

The ACLU will demand removing all public display of religion.
The do-gooders will demand the wealthy pay the poor to do nothing (aka welfare).
Environmentalists will force an end to bombings because of all the pollution.
Diversity quotas will require Christians and Jews to partake in their affairs.
Abortion will diminish their populations.
Appeasers will demand dialog in place of action when faced with threats.

Anti-prosperity every time it's tried! Look at Europe. Look at what years of social assistance has done in our cities.

I'm only half kidding here! The point is, these are many of the very same factors that have brought us to where we are today -- weakened and divided.

Many of the poor stay poor because we pay them to do so. Which cities have the most homeless? The cities which pay the homeless the most. How long do people stay on unemployment? As long a unemployment lasts. How long do people stay for free beer? Until the beer runs out.

The top 1% income bracket pays nearly ten times more federal income taxes that the bottom 50%! The top 1% pay over a third, 34.27% of all income taxes.

Guess how much puts you in the top 50%.....

Rocco, great post! A 1/3 of a million income is not the image conjured up by "the top 1%" is it?

What a perverted set of priorities we're subjected to! The more you succeed, the more you're penalized. The more you fail, the more you're rewarded.

The point of no return is when the non-producers are the majority. We are getting dangerously close to that point now! Amnesty would have accelerated it, as will national healthcare!

I was joking (in case that wasn't clear)

I don't believe there is a growing mass of poor in this country. Heck, a 2 minimum wage household (not that I believe vast numbers stay at minimum wage) is at or near the top 50% of wage earners!

However, if there are huge growing numbers of poor, we should stop all welfare IMMEDIATELY. Why? Transferring TRILLIONS in fighting poverty over the last 40 or 50 years must be increasing poverty! The only humane thing to do is stop making it worse.
