Two rescued from river

Two men were rescued from the St. Clair River after their boat capsized this afternoon, said U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer Eric Drescher.

The men were in a 16-foot aluminum fishing boat when it overturned near the mouth of the Black River about 2:20 p.m.

Drescher said U.S. Customs and Border Patrol officials fished the men out of the water before the Coast Guard arrived. Both men were wearing life vests.

What caused the boat to overturn is unknown, he said.

"There's a lot of boat traffic, if they just took a bad wave from another vessel they could have gone over, but we don't know exactly the cause," Drescher said.

No injuries were reported.
