Well, it's been different for me for sure..

This entire 2009 boating season neither my wife or any of my family members have gone on the

boat all season. I have asked them all summer to go out and nothing...

Thank God for a few close friends who enjoy fishing...

I wonder if before the season ends if any of my family members will go out with me or not...

Anyone else ever experience this on your boat>>>?

Sure have, I haven't been able to convince any family members to come out on the boat. Only once has my mother been out and that was to celebrate Mother's Day.

That is discouraging!

But don't give up. Sooner or later they will realize how foolish they have been to miss out on one of God's greatest gifts to mankind: Boating!

Or perhaps they're just apprehensive about heading out with a rough and tumble brawler, such as yourself.

This discussion is tough. It can tear people apart and/or bring them together. My family across state decided to have a family reunion.....Labor Day weekend. My mom knows how important this lifestyle is important to me. I will never know why they had it on Labor Day weekend. I have explained it many times how important that weekend is to boaters. She said she understood and was not upset, but I have a feeling she was hurt when we didn't show up.

PF, Boating is not for everyone. And, some people will never understand the passion of it, and why we love it so much. It is in my blood, and can't get it out. Several years ago my uncle told me, "you will grow out of it". Why he said that I have no idea, but he is so wrong. I will never grow out of it. It only grows stronger in my mind every day. Now we are thinking of some day owning a cottage out in the flats somewhere. I am in it for life.

Well since we are new to boating again after a long lull I can't seem to keep the family off my boat! lol My gas bill proves it. I feel bad for you but hang in there. They may make a turn around. Boating indeed brings family's closer and we are enjoying it as well as my family. I have plenty of family to go around...you want one or two? lol

Heck we took my sister-in-law and mother-in-law out this June when they came to visit. They had a great time on the boat. I have a cousin I need to invite out.

I think that I am grateful to have the boat and to get to use it when I want to....
With or without the family but having the family out there from time to time would be great. I wanted so badly to take the grandkids out to gull to experience the island....

There are a lot of people out there who have lot their job and everything else to go along with their lives in the material world...

I am hoping that next year will be better.......

Thanks LSCN for being my boating family away from home even if I can't find the Raft or have some young PUNK threating to give me a knuckle sandwich all the time.....

We had the family + family friends out to the marina for a BBQ this summer, when it came time to go for a ride down the river I had only two takers, talk about depressing!

We stayed on the boat for the weekend several times as a family and even more just myself (Man that is relaxing) but went out on the water maybe half as much as last year.

Rich...know just what you mean about "family". They always come first for me too.
However...I am so glad u get out and enjoy boating in spite of them not being interested.
Maybe when the grandkids get a lil older, they'll be able to go with you alone....just the kids
and grandpa ....that would be very special time

our season wasn't cut in half...it barely started and was stopped...but there's always next year
