Just wondering how may people on the LSCN think that they might be affected by the layoffs at GM (Design) that are slated to happen late December of 03 and mid Feb. of 04.

I am a contract at GM. I work for Lear. I am at the tech center, but I know a person in Pontiac where I previously worked that informed me of many layoffs. One lady we both know is getting layed off, along with her whole group. Their last day is Friday. I have heard many others are to follow. I hope I am safe, but I'll have a box handy. The funny thing is that my supervisor told us about 2 weeks ago it is just rumors and there is nothing to worry about. As soon as he said that, I have worried. Every time one of my supervisors has said that within a month the axe came swingin. That is the kiss of death

Not GM, but "Merry Chistmas, get the he!! out!" anyways. I'm contract at Unisys in plymouth and the grapevine is saying no budget for next year so project ends this month. still the economy? hmmm....well no more surfin' LSCN for awhile I guess.

Yeah, there will be 40 designers laid off here @ GM Powertrain.
My boss tells me I'm secure, but until the day actually comes, I wont feel safe.........the rumor is febuary. But wouldn't be surprised if they did it for x-mas. <_<
