Some of you have an interest in cool planes, so this is just a reminder that the big Thunder Over Michigan Airshow is this weekend in Ypsilanti. (www.yankeeairmuseum.org). The Blue Angels will be there again this year.

While they are going to have tons of aircraft (the theme this year is the "C-130's"), of particular note is the appearance of these two planes:
*Northrop B-2A Spirit - 509th BW (Flyby Only - Saturday Only)
*Boeing B-52H Stratofortress - 2nd BW (Flyby Only - Saturday Only)

Too far inland to see from a boat, unless you trailer over to Ford Lake or something like that!

We've seen the Blue Angels at least three times. I am always in awe.

I can't wait to see the Thunderbirds this year at Selfridge. I want to go to the airshow on land one day and watch it from the boat on the other.

I think Wantsa said he was going by land one day too so maybe we can tag along with them.

How's the view from the water for the Selfridge show next weekend? I'm hoping to check it out by boat this year. Any recommended locations?

I have not gone by water to this show.... do they block off any of the lake? Can you see much of the show from the lake? I know you can usually see a bunch of the planes flying around, but if you're out in the water off Selfridge can you see anything worthwhile?

You can't see a ton of the show, but it is a fun day out on the lake. I went two years ago for the first time and although you cant see much, it is pretty cool when the jets do a super low pass over the boat crowd.

And during a normal summer you can usually expect good weather......................

I have had the selfridge show on my calendar all season. Was really hoping to go. Not sure if we are going to have a boat by then. Probably not as we are just getting moving on the survey process.

I have the tower but do you know any of the other frequencies they might be using?

Or if you go Saturday and pick up a couple let me know and I'll get them on the online scanner for Sunday.

I will be there Friday evening for Mitch Ryder and The Romantics I will ask around about frequencies.
