There were a some good weight's brought in...unfortunately, NOT by me and D-Man!! But,..we sure had a good time!! Darren,..thanks again for the ride and laughs all day!! I'm up for a T or 2 on your side of the pond too...anytime you want, just give me a shout and we'll see what we can work out. That was a fun......we would've had a much better bag had we been able to keep those 2 good ones we had on buttoned up!
That's one thing don't like about jerk baits!!! AARRGHH!!...Ohwell....the fish won that round!! LOL

Cheers,
Mac

BTW,..CONGRAT'S to who ever won it,.....you deserved it,...that wind was a real PIA!!

Big Roy got 2nd...he went from 4th last yr to his best finish ever in a tournament....lol...j/k Roy, you probably got a 2nd before....lol.

Doug and I had a blast. We couldn't go to far with the winds and the wave action...not in my 17ft aluminum. I have no idea how Wayne Carpenter went as far as he did. The ride must have been a back killer on the way back. We came in and had the lead for 15min...we were the first ones to weigh in...lol...5 for 11.74.....WAY WAY WAY out of the money. You needed close to 17...very high 16's....to get a check.

No one had any problems finding me up on the wall Saturday...That I was glad for, since I said I would be in my boat....Oh well things still worked out well.

I did get to see my first big weigh in....finally....lol. The top 3 big fish were all over 5lbs. Top 3 finishes were all in the 20's I think...did not pay to much attention to that.....but I think that was it.

It was a lot of fun.

Dan Kimmel was sitting at the table so he has most of the results. Here is what he wrote down:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jim Clauser and John Robiadek won the NBAA Detroit River today, June 20, 2009 with 5 smallmouth bass weighing 21.86 pounds good for $5,000. They also took 2nd big bass with a 5.41 pounder good for another $200.

Roy Randolph and his partner took 2nd with 5 smallies for 20.57 pounds to take $1,500.

Don Fowler and partner finished 3rd with 5 smallies for 20.15 pounds - I think they won $700 or $1,000. They also took 3rd big bass good for $170 with a 5.15 pound toad.

Overall big bass was a 5.45 pound smallmouth bass.

The top 12 finishers took money for the 89 boats that braved the rain and wind today. 12th place was 16.58 pounds. Another dozen teams or so had 15 pounds and up.

Full results and pictures should be up on the www.nbaa-bass.com web site soon.

Doug and I finished in the mid 20 places with just over 15 pounds despite the wind and missing or losing a good number of pecking bass. Though St. Clair is a great place to fish, it was a little squirrelly today, but still a pretty good day of fishing that started with my hooking a keeper on my first cast of the morning as soon as my bait hit the water... before I even had my hand on the reel handle

This is a cool tournament with lots of future potential. The weigh-in was held right at St. Jeans ramp this year, but NBAA is looking at working with the city of Detroit closer again next year. Negotiations are ongoing.

Congrats to the top teams !! Heck CONGRATS to any team with more that 12lbs. Thats all Matt and I could muster up. Jerkbaits need to come with handcuffs, EVERY fish over 3-4lbs managed to work free.

On the bright side the " Key Job" my Tahoe got at the ramp allows me to get a free paint job from my insurance provider. So all was not lost

Can anyone read Russian writing ? LOL Just gotta smile and shake it off like them fish Saturday.
