Are the bass doing anything in the rivers ?

I dont fish for bass in the st clair river but I catch them whippin. They are in there im just not exactly sure how to target them in that swift current

When you drop shot for them do you troll like your jiggin or do you cast and reel it in. It seems like itd be hard to stay in contact with the bottom.
