The Mount Clemens Power Squadron is starting a Basic Boating Class on February 25 2004 at L'Anse Creuse Middle School South. The Class is free but you have to buy the book ( $30 I think ) and the school charges $8 per person.
The class covers basic boats & parts of boats, rules of the water, basic saftey, knots & basic charting.

PM me if your interested or would like more info.
Thanks for your time,

Is there such a thing as an early saturday class?
How about a one full weekend class?

I work afternoons and only get one weekend a month off. Is there a class for me? Anywhere within reason?

A boat smart class is in the planning stage.
We need at least 6 people to have a class. As of last night we have 3 confirmed.
Please contact Dale Egle ([email protected]) and let him know your are interested in joining the class.
Those of you that contacted me about a Saturday class make sure you tell him you want a Saturday morning class.
Boat Smart is the short class that runs 4 or 5 weeks and is the minimum requirements to get your boater saftey card. (PWC riders)
Thanks,
Gregg

I'm not sure if this is the one you are talking about:

There is a BOATSMART class being taught at Mac & Rays starting March 23 at 7PM.

It is being run by Joseph Township. He can be reached at 586-997-3618,

I just emailed Dale. As long as we can get saturday morning hours and be out by 1:30/2pm, I start work at 3pm downtown, FullThrottle and I are in. Thats makes 5 interested parties. Can we get one more? at least.

Gregg, does this class apply to the insurance rate discount offer from most companies for a Boating Safety course? Sure owuld like to save a few $$ if I can.

Thanks for the posting as well as the PM.

The class does count for Ins. discounts if your Ins. company offers them...you get the same card you would get if you take the long class, Coast Guard couse, the DNR course or the Sherriff course.
The last I heard, Mt. Clemens is the only local Power Squadron that has state certified instructors. This may have changed but I don't think so.

This is not the class offered at Mac & rays. We still don't have a spot picked out to have the class as of yet.

Thanks,
Gregg

Number for Dale Egle is incorrect as posted above.

Correct number is 586.786.6818

Myself and FullThrottle will be signing up for the class. I'll be contacting Dale on thursday and sending him an email in about 5 mins.
