I'm going to be spending the 4th of July week on lake Huron just above Thunder Bay in Alpena. I'm having trouble finding information on the bass fishing . Has anyone fished this area of lake Huron before for bass. Is this a good bass fishery or not. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Marcus

Good numbers of bass with some really big bass, but REAL spotty. Lots of dead water. When you find them, there usually quite numerous in a small area. Try the marked wrecks and shallow rock bars near Whitefish Bay.

There are also many hazards to the lower unit all over that place even out a ways in some places.

One evening along the north edge of the bay, I started whacking salmon (in September) on Cordell Spots along the shallow rock edges. That was fun. I landed 3 before it got too dark.

Thank you Dan. I just had my lower unit rebuilt over the winter so I am extra cautious right now. Depending on the weather I may just end up trailering to some inland lakes anyway. I'll be taking out some first timers and I hate that look they give me when they see 2 and 3 footers on the lake and I'm still backing it in. They also never seem to believe it when you tell them to dress for 40 degrees even though it is going to be 80 degrees that day. Nothing is worse than being on fish and having to leave because the first timers are cold.

Thanks again,
Marcus
