If you could fish at Lake St.Clair the third week in September or the first or second week in October which would you pick? I will be smallmouth fishing and looking for size and numbers (rather have a lot of bites). Heard the largemouth fishing is excellent and will also try for them.

Does anyone know a good place to camp near the lake, on the USA side?

Welcome to the site and if I have answered this once I have answered it a million times...lol

Algonac State Park is the only camping on the lake that I know of.

Do a search on the site for more information (its in the upper right hand of this screen)

September and October are both very very good fishing times on the lake. If you have a smaller boat I would reccommend going out during September. October water conditions have been known to be pretty rough. Algonac State Park is the only campground on the lake, or near the lake that I know of also. Downtown Algonac has a very nice park where you can shore fish for walleye or smallmouth for free! Many, Many Walleye have been caught there for years! Good luck!
