my dad just called and asked, 'do you got food in your apartment?' i'm like, 'yeah. why? are you coming over?' and he says, 'no. there's a big snow coming. watch the news at 5 or 6.'

so, should we be worried? i think i'm going to run to FJ to get a couple items 'just in case.' you know, like beer.

... Winter Storm Watch in effect tonight through Sunday night...

The National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac has issued a Winter Storm Watch for potential snowfall amounts of 6 to 12 inches.

Remember... a Winter Storm Watch means conditions are favorable for a hazardous winter storm event in and close to the watch area. There is potential for significant snow... sleet... or ice accumulations that may impact travel. Continue to monitor the latest forecasts.

When I moved into this house (on St Gertrude) there used to be a school at the end of the block. The street was one of the first to get plowed. Since then the school has been torn down and is now the back of the parking lot for St John's on 12 Mile. Now it seems like we're one of the last streets to get done.

i bet it is less than half what they predict, if that

i don't understand stocking up on stuff, like even 1 foot of snow is going to shut down the country for weeks, doesn't everyone live walking distance to a taco bell or mcdonalds

now if the were predicting nuclear winter, than maybe buy some water and bread, but 6 inches of show, they crap that much snow every day in colorado and buffalo and minnesota and they seem to stay alive

slow news day, they have to hype up the snow, its not like we live in florida where the snow in unexpected

QUOTE(Shandog @ Jan 3 2004, 06:36 PM)my neighbor used to snowblow my driveway for the past few years.
now that I have a boyfriend I bet he'll stop doing that for me.

Dayum

Maybe not. I think its a guy thing...... but once you get the snowblower out ya might as well do the people's walks near your own place. I have 2 under 50 year old neighbors on my left and an elderly couple to the right. Whichever of the 3 of us gets out first usually does all of ours plus the elderly couples.

Well I can't speak for everyone, but I really am not stocking up, my refrigerator is so empty it is just better to shop today then tomorrow morning.

When you don't have kids food shopping keeps working its way down the list of fun things to do Hee! Hee!

Remember the Dick Method? Dick the Bruiser that is. Geez, I'm dating myself. It was something like take the predicted amount, divide it in half and subtract one. Something like that anyway, and it used to be seemingly accurate.

I was visiting family in Donaldson, TN many years ago. An inch or 2 of snow fell and EVERYTHING closed. They had no snow removal equipment.

I hate the first good snowfall here. I have to drive I-94 aka Tunnel O' Death to work and it seems like every year a lot of people forget how to drive in the stuff.
