Figured I'd start a new thread on the info I received from Rose at Beacon Cove, as she knows it.

Friday (today) - free entrance, beer tent, entertainment, race boats on display

Saturday - $10.00 per car, limited parking. When lot is full, most likely will be $10.00 per person. Entertainment tent, BBQ, time trials viewing, boats on display

Sunday - $10.00 per person, tent, race, BBQ, pits, awards ceremony at 6:00PM

Wells are still available for $65.00 at per day, from 11AM to 11AM next day

Free Boat Town USA Shuttle will be operating. Leave boat at Metro Beach or anywhere else in Harrison Twp & call for shuttle at 586-612-4454.

Entrance by water to Beacon Cove will be closed 12 to 3 Saturday & 11 to 4 Sunday. Limited entrance will be available between heats & races.

There will be DJ's in the tent during the day, Band from 7 to 10PM nightly.

This better not be true either. I could come and go as I wanted last year. We just had to take an immediate right leaving the marina and go past the spillway.

Damn right. Some of the cut, and clean my damn boat from all the oil and gas that gets on it.

Seriuosly - if what has been said today comes true I hope it is the last year for the race.

Beacon Cove is just not the same this year. And this might be the clincher....

I don't agree with this AT ALL.

Yep me too the race is out there aways we should be able to avoid it
"Limited entrance will be available between heats & races."

She did say this, so you will be able to get in & out. I imagine they just want to reduce the amount of traffic in the area.
Some people, who could care less about the race, may not be able to get to their boat until the time that they are closing off the enterance and to be forced to stay in the marina because BC decides to do all of this, that's bull.

Clincher is about right...

Last year they pushed it out there to allow people to come and go, I beleive. But then everyone complained they could not see, maybe they pushed it back in for race fans...
I dont know whats going on with that place this year. Last year they were the nicest, most accommodating people anywhere. This year not so much. Even some employees are grumbling about it...

F the race fans. I'm paying a hell of a lot more than $10 to use my boat when I want.

QUOTE(Soo Sassy @ Jul 24 2009, 10:53 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Which is it? Will it be closed or limited?

She said the entrance will be "closed during heats & races" & the Coast Guard will let boats in & out between heats & races.
I'm sorry, but I still don't agree with it. What a PITA.
I wouldn't make too much of any of this.
They know they HAVE to take care of the residents.
I believe they will probably close outside access to the gas dock but resident boats will
be able to come and go, avoiding the course by taking a hard right at the marina entrance.
Just my opinon tho
gt
I def left during the race last year.
I assume if you have a BCM sticker you get in free on Sat and Sun? I will also be PO if I get there and there is no parking for those with boats in the marina.
