Well, found some wood rot the other day. Had a guy look at it and he said all four stringers as well as the forward bulkhead in the engine compartment were bad. $4000 for him to repair it. Had another guy look at it yesterday. He thinks the two outer stringers are bad farther forward of the bulkhead as well. Estimate on repair: $8000+. Its an 86. Isnt worth much more than $10,000. Time to take the loss. I cant see putting that much into it. What will I find that is bad three months from now? I am working on a possible sale to a guy in Canada (He knows it has problems). If that deal falls thru, I wondered if there were any places around that would be interested in it for parts. The engine and outdrive are in good condition. 780 or so hours on them. Also, it has other things sellable. Teak swim platform, electronics, etc. I wondered if there was a boat junk yard or something similar around. Anyone have an idea? I'd appreciate any ideas. Hopefully this person from Canada will take it as is.
A friend of my cousin's just looked at a boat similiar problems... the owner took very good care of it...it was immaculent!
Survey showed rot!
He was gonna donate it so he could get the full value!
Just a thought for you!
Sorry man!
