My first boat this year and before I bought it, the boat hit the dock of the well at Beacon Cove because it wasn't tied up that good. End result, the wood bow pulpit got banged up and I now need to redo. So, I know I need to sand down the top of the bow pulpit to achieve even results. But the former owner used Sekkens on many parts of the boat, can I just use a couple of coats of that over the sanded bow pulpit? Any suggestions welcome, I am going to attempt this project this weekend.

Yeah, if its just scratched up, sanding it smooth again and then applying 3 or 4 coats of Sikkens will make it beautiful again. You'll want to apply the Sikkens in the shade. Otherwise it drys too quickly. Light sanding between coats. Before the first coat, wipe the wood down with mineral spirits and let it dry. This removes any oils, fingerprints, etc, so the varnish sticks better to start. Good luck and watch out for those pesky docks...
