I was up north over the weekend and had accomplished the work quickly so went to a beaver pond on a local stream.
Last summer I could go there and see 20 fish at a time and practically catch one on every cast. They have always been small fish (6 inches), except you may get a keeper very early in the season.
Saturday when I went down the bank you could not see a single fish present. Looks like the pond has really silted in since last summer, but appears to still be active.
why such a change since last summer? when they begin to silt in, is that typical that it happens that fast? This beaver pond has been there for a number of years now and has had lots of short fish in it.
