<{POST_SNAPBACK}>if you anchor on the canadain side do you have to have a passport
If you drop anchor in canadian waters you must report via phone to canadian customs. I think the number is 800 CAN PASS. Same applies if you dock and go on shore. Once you report to canadian customs, if you do not have a form I 68 for all people om board, you must report to US Customs via video phone or call them.once you return to US waters. Not sure of the number. There arent a lot of video phones to use. I make sure to never anchor or go to shore in Canada. You need to check the rules. I am not up to date, since as I stated, we never anchor or dock so it doesnt apply to us.
theyve revised the anchoring part of it.if only anchored in canadian waters you will not have to report into us customs, so its same as if drifting/trolling but you still have to report to canada that has not changed. you dont want to get caught without a call in number
Do you mind if I ask where you got your information from? I would be interested in seeing osme verification as I do travel in Canadian waters quite frequently, and enjoy many anchorages on the canadian side but have not had the courage to drop anchor with the recent changes in laws/rules. Some of my favorite places to anchor are in the Canadian waters. I knew about the ferry in Marine City, just wasnt sure if I needed a passtport on the ferry also. Thanks.
