Just putting a little bug into everyone's head.

There has been some interest shown by some peeps about trying to get a large group to go to Cancun next year at the end of February or first week in March. I am here to plant the bug early to start saving now if you're interested. We are going to try and book it in June or July but I am sure that full payment won't be due then but a deposit probably will be. I know a few of us are going to stay for 8 days and we encourage others to do the same but if you can only stay for 5 days so be it you're still more than welcome to come on down.

We are going to try and stay at the Grand Oasis Cancun Hotel. (see website below and attached picture)

http://www.cancunvacationpackagesandhotels...ive_mexico.html

I would suggest going all-inclusive and to be safe I would plan for spending $1,500.00 the worst that could happen is that you end up with money back in your pocket. So save for the worst and hope for the best price.

Please post if you're a definite and I will keep a running list on this entry.

it's too early to plan a trip like this in advance. you should wait a month or two before going to book your trip...and keep track of air fare. yesterday, i found it for $169. those seats go fast, so when you see it, buy it as you don't have time to waste.

i'm leaving in two weeks and my all inclusive (only 3 days) and air came to a total of $461.

Julie

If you read my message it says this is just planting the bug to start saving now and that we won't be booking it until June or July.

Have fun on your trip.

When you book a group you want to book in advance. If the price goes down often times you are able to get the difference back. Thats why booking with a travel agent is helpful.

Also if there is a lot of interest you can not get many seats at the last minute like that. That time of year will be very busy, since Easter is early. I already have three groups booked for next year.

cotty, after i wrote i thought about what you said, and yes it's a good thing to put this thought into people's minds now so they can start saving.

i still think july is too early to book for next jan. or feb. just my opinion. however, look at prices weekly and that way you'll know when you have found a good deal.

i'm looking forward to my trip...3 days is just a tease, but i'll be nice to be in 85 degree weather...starting on my tan a little early this year!

And for this very reason is why I talked to you about this last month.

Is that spring break time? I've stayed at the Oasis for spring break 2 years ago. Far and away the biggest party hotel there is down there. (also stayed at Cancun Palace) We got quite pissed at the Oasis and I don't think I'd ever go back. The hotel is so large that they broke it off into 3 diffrent parts. On one end was where all the all-inclusive were. That's what we did. Having been there before I knew that all inclusive was the only way to go. So the middle part was really nice and they wouldn't even let you in the hotel if you stayed at either of the two end hotels. Than the other far end was were the party was. Totaly spring break style crazyiness....young people everywhere drinking there brains out. So there was no doubt that's were we wanted to be. The only problem was that they said that our all inclusive was no good over there. That we could only drink for free on our side....what a total dump! Give me a break...it's the same fricken hotel! You can complain all you want it gets you nowhere they just end up laughing at your dumb American a$$. I ended up buying my drinks the whole time down there.

Also at night they won't even let you in that side of the hotel...so if you were hooking up with someone from that side of the hotel it had to be a total special ops mission.
total dump.....and a dump is a dump!

agree with RERUN, check the place before you go, OASIS is the spring breakers mecca, we didn't stay there but were by it when they were filming the cancun - the movie, it is a dump, they don't care about quality or condition, just get american spring breakers in, feed them cheap tequilla for $$$, and laugh at their drunk asses, also, cancun all inclusive for 7 days, would not pay more than $700, i've done it for as little as $399, not the Ritz, but unless you are paying the major bucks, most of the "acceptable" cancun hotels are all the same, quarry marble flooring, doorwall to balcony, AC that works sometimes, nice pool and good beaches

I can't wait to go!!
Dave and I stayed at Hotel Sierra both times. Had a great time. Cotty - maybe we better rethink the hotel situation!!

We pay on average 900-1,100 for 8 days all inclusive. We totally get our monies worth!
Our problem will be that we're looking for a big group to go and get rooms all together. We can't just look for a cheap deal at the last minute and end up all over Cancun. We'll find what we want for the right price!

Easter is all weird next year. Bummer.
We'll probably be going February 19- 26!!

Come on next year.........

Thanks for all the lovely suggestions.

I was saying we were going to try and get into that hotel but honestly I could careless as long as I am down there.

I actually would prefer staying at the Sherton Hotel and Towers. I stayed last time there and the only wrist bands were for all-inclusive and you could bring anyone back you wanted from any hotel.

Hey crabs...I stayed at the Omni too...Just unofficially.

I also agree on the cheaper prices that you mention goose but if I tell people to plan for $1500 then they will have enough money to go and spending cash while down there because the clubs aren't cheap and either are the drinks once you step outside your hotel.
