Caught a couple of pretty good size cats near the St. Clair Light. Was wondering of anybody knows a good way to prepare these for dinner. I have never tried them and don't know the best way to fix them.
have you filleted them? That is the hardest part I think. After that is done, soak them in milk, it will take a little of the fishy taste. Then deep fry in a spicey beer batter, mmmmmmmmmmm

Already filleted. Was not sure if they would be any good deep fried. I will give that a try. Thanks.

"Andy's" red cornmeal breading is by far the best stuff I've ever used. Just dredge your fillets and then pan fry them in peanut oil in a cast iron skillet. Although with cats that big, I would cut the fillets into sections about 6 inches long so they are easily handled during cooking. But seriously, try the Andy's red, good stuff.

By the looks of the anal fin being long & straight versus a rounded anal fin like a channel cat they do look like a blue catfish. I haven't seen too many covered docks on the lake like you see on the lakes down south. I hope this isn't another 8.5 Lb SM story.
These definitely look like pure blue cats to me, and the background in this photo looks nothing like anything up here on the lake that I know of. Very suspicious if you ask me...
Anal fin looks too straight, but im not gonna blatantly call him out on it, they very well could be channels, i would just like to know where the picture was taken at.

Ditto, you can fool some of the people, some of the time...
Sorry guys, those are definatley blues. That is a picture from my grandpa's place down in La Follette Tennesee on Norris Lake (I was down there a couple of weeks ago). I emailed the picture to myself from my phone and I obviously sent myself the wrong picture. We never keep/eat the catfish we catch in Norris Lake but I thought I would keep the channel cats that I caught in St. Clair and give them a try. I will send myself the right picture and post it.
BTW, I was not trying to fool anybody, those are clearly not channel cats. Was just an honest error.
Deep fried, pan fried, grilled or broiled are all good.
If you decide to grill or broil, brush lightly will oil, sprinkle with cajun seasoning, yummmy.
