I saw the previous version, and I didn't comprehend it either.

Judi, that's quite an edit you did there!
Now I can understand it.

No, I don't turn my phone off at night. But, I probably wouldn't hear it in the other room anyway.

No I do not turn it off at night, but I also do not keep it on my nightstand. It is always on, but it is often in a different room. You do not "shut-off" your land line at night, do you? So why would you shut off your cell phone.

I was also awake early enough to see the previous version ... figured it was some good meds or "sleep typing".

I don't turn mine off because I am a brain surgeon, oncall 24x7.

No, but I cancel my landline every night. Then I use my cell to renew it in the morning.

Please share....I need a mini vacation!

I shut my ringers off and just leave it on vibrate. If I'm awake I'll hear it, but if I'm sleeping then it doesn't wake me. I keep the phone in the family room charging over night.

Knowing you don't have a land line (which is becoming more and more common for people) I would answer it differently than if you did have a land line.

With a land line, our cell phones are downstairs a long ways from our bedroom. They are either being charged or on the table to be picked up to go to work in the morning. If Mike is on call, his work phone is upstairs on the night stand.

BUT if we didn't have a land line, our personal phones would be by our bed and turned On. My Mom lives out of state. She is 86 and there are the normal medical issues. I want to be able to take a phone call no matter the time of day or night if there is an emergency. I would answer the same if it related to kids.

I think it is a matter of preference but everyone will make their decision on need. Do you need to be able to be contaced for work 24x7? Do you want to know of a family emergency immediately.

My personal preference ..... I do.

No landline phone always left on unless I don't want to be bothered. Got a call @ 3am one night. Didn't know the number but I wanted to call them at 4 when I normally get up.

Mine is always on. But it's downstairs so if it ran in the middle of the night I'd never hear it.

We have a land line still. Not ready to cut the cord.
