Continuous LSCN board error,

1987 Views 26 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  Snowbi-Wan
Okay, today is just ridiculous. Everytime I load a new page or thread, I get the same error:

ALERT! The connection was refused when attempting to contact imgserv.adbutler.com

I have to click on "OK" at least twice, befor ehte page/thread will finish loading. This only effects the posting of ad's along the right side of the frame and what happens is that they just dont show.

I usually get this error at least once a session, for the last month or two, but today it is on every, single try.

Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Frustrated.

Hasn't happened to me yet but I keep getting 404 errors on the right side where ads should be.
Sorry Jim. Not sure why you would be getting error messages popping up You should only see the errors that Milord talks about, which are unobtrusive.

What browser and OS are you using?

Those errors are coming from the guys that serve up our advertisements. I don't know what's going on over there, and unfortunately, I can't do too much about it.
I was JUST going to post a thread about this. Can we temporarily disable the dead ads?

Also, it seems I almost always have to click on thread titles and such at least TWICE before it goes to that page.

URGH!!!

I am using Netscape 7 and running Windows ME.

I wish I could get the unobtrusive errors, but not my luck. Its the pain in the a$$ ones for me. I just ahd to click "OK" 7 times before this reply page would load completely.

Thanks, C-girl. We try!

Ads have been temporarily disabled. Enjoy!

Snow, I don't know why you have to click on posts more than once. That's not happening here. Is it still doing it wihout the ad errors on the side?

Note to advertisers, your ads will be back up as soon as the server is available!

It mostly happens when I click the "Last Post by". You can hear the "click" fron the speakers, but it doesn't seem to do anything, and I've waited like 10-20 seconds.
I just did a restart on the computer and started everything fresh.

With Netscape, I am still getting the smae error message.

In IE the page is loading twice. the second version is below the first and in the second version, in the ad column, I am getting.............

"The page cannot be displayed

I think its time to go over to the boat and give her some Love, then head off to work. That always makes me feel better, NOT the going to work part.

I just had to hit ADD REPLY twice.

I still see the ad errors.
Oops, the code doubled up on me. Does it look better now, Jim?

I don't want to be accused of piling on here, but I'm having a problem when I hit the back button on the site. The bottom of the window says "Opening page http://imgserv.adbutler.com/adserve/... ,then it says conneccting to site 216.127.38.100 for a half a minute or so, then "Done" and I'm still on the page I started with. Could be me, but it hasn't happened before today...
SnowCake, you're still going to see the ad errors, since aren't using the default skin.

Catch 22.

Ok, disregard that. It's working now.
OK, what did you do? Everything seems to be working great now.

FYI - If you ever see the "page cannot be displayed error" where the ads are supposed to be - you need to hit the back button up to 5 times to get back to your previous page. Better off using the site navigation rather than the browser navigation when that happens.

Good! I'm off to CPK now!
