Convincor and I used to cruise Gratiot when I first moved here almost 10 years ago. Convincor had this black van - cargo van, and he put this wall of speakers in it. There must've been 25 speakers in the wall. You could hear us coming 4 miles down the road. About the only music we listened to was 80-90's heavy metal. Yeah, yeah there might've been a little mullet, but he was soo cute!
I too used to be a Gratiot Hound...Every Fri.and Sat. nite

Always was draggin my `71 Buick Riviera....With the Diamond back.....God I miss that car !!!!!!

every day -- now that is

then, yea quite frequently in my 64Chevelle or daves '73Charger or even J's 77Lincoln. Out till 4 am.
Me and my best friend used to cruise Gratiot in the early/mid 80's. We had a blast. Picked up some pretty nice girls at the same time.. Actually got a pretty scary story about a girl I dated from a cruise.

Dave and I were cruising one summer night in '83 when we met two great girls in a pink caddy. Dave hooked up with the driver, Marcia and I with the passenger, Sheryl. We dated for awhile, but because of where we lived and schedules, it just didnt work out. We felt a strange connection, but it wasnt so much love or anything like that.

Move ahead to April 1985. I meet my birth mom and her husband for the first time. I was adopted when I was only 3 weeks old and had looked on and off for several years to find my biological mother. After we meet, she took me over to their house to meet the rest of my "natural family" and there she was, Sheryl, my ex-girlfriend. Turns out she is my sister. This was one time I was glad the relationship never turned into a romantic one.

Cruising Gratiot was great, you just have to watch out in some situations.

here is a picture of a guys car that was the fastest cruiser. that car was street legal.
he was helping us to build my drag car. this way his last ride in that or any car. except for the hearse. he was a great guy. died with the world record in both et and mph...
Very funny Dave!
(looks like the car though. )

I used to cruise Gratiot 2-3 times a week. Had a red camaro in '77 and in '78 I had a midnight blue '73 Vette. Built the motor, trans, and put in a gear. Was in HUNDREDS of races over the years and never got caught. Those were definately the days. I used to cruise with guys like 'Hitman' and Corky from Corky's competition down on schoenherr by 8 mile.

No. Bob Johnson with the GTO. BAD ARSE!! He's in jail for life for drugs now. I used to race him on 8 mile when we met at Corky's. I had an 11-1/2 to 1, 350 built in a 79 Z28 and he had an 82 Z28 with a 400 internally balanced to look like the original 305. We burned a lot of rubber on that road.
oh, ok i know the car. the engine from that car ended up in a pearl white trans am. a guy, chris, bought it from him. he owned some kind of a car stereo place.
