Things are little slow on here, so I'll post a trip from the Detroit River I did last summer.
Detroit River fishing video summer of 2022. You never know what you're going to catch on the Detroit River. This particular day was a great multi species day on the river. There aren't too many fisheries that hold the number of fish that the Detroit River does. Sometimes it's just a matter of getting on the right area. Come along for a trip on the Detroit River with R & J Bass Fishing.

LOL Still too cold for my fat azz to be out there. I am planning on getting my boat out of storage next weekend. Gotta get out there for some of the perch that should be coming in to shore and in the rivers & canals by mid April, hot & heavy!! Might try shore fishing at Metro park tomorrow.

I really do not know what time they open the gates at this time of year. I will be heading that way about 8-9:00 A.M. IF we go out. Depends on the weather at that time.

Ended up going out to Metro AND South River Rd. (Harley DNR launch site). The weather was beautiful. Nothing much going on with any fish being caught though. Saw nothing going on at Metro park, and there were 5 boats anchored in the Clinton River in fron of the sheriff's office. Saw only a few small perch caught from the boat fishermen. A few fishermen fishing from shore in the river, and not much being caught at all. Was one beautiful day to be out in the fresh air.

Still about two weeks away from the good perch run in the river I would say. By then, I will have my boat ready to go. Gonna try to get her ready this week.

Just saw this post today April 1st. Sounds like a GREAT day on Kent Lake to me. LOL Your slow days would be my "fantastic" days. That bass is a really good size. I usually catch them prior to the season opening up. I will hit Stoney Creek Lake after the season opens there. It opens up there a month before the catch & keep season on LSC. I do very well on large mouths in Stoney. Never saw a smallie caught there. Did you ever fish that small lake? Great for crappies (Current Mich state record was caught there) and good pike fishing. Not too much in the way of gills & perch, but some big cats in there too. You may enjoy the bass fishing there. Small lake though. 500 acre lake.

edit: 10 M.P.H. speed limit on this lake. Any size motor is o.k.

I've heard about that lake quite a bit, but never fished it. Decent boat ramp? 500 acre lakes are perfect size if you ask me.
Yes, nice ramps. I think there are 6 ramps there with metal docks that float (& wiggle as you walk on them), LOL. Speed limit 10 M.P.H. Motor size is not restricted. Great parking lot and nice bathrooms. Couple of beaches that you can catch fish outside of the sand. No boats allowed inside the swimming bouys, but early morning casting into the swimming areas is great for bass. Entire lake is fishable for bass, pike and crappies. Pan fish not too good. Big cats in there too. (Mostly by the south dam in deep water). Lake gets too weedy to fish (choked with weeds) in late June until the weeds die off in the winter. Two dams on the lake, one at each end. If you get past the weeds when the lake is choked out, you can fish by either dam with no problems. Deep by the dams, about 22 FOW. It is a man made lake. Has a deeper main channel (original stream) running thru the center of the lake and the channel was flooded to make the lake years back, probably in the early 60's??

NOTE: You do not want to go when the cotton woods are shedding. The lake gets completely covered with the cotton wood fuzz and it looks like an ice covered lake with snow on top of the ice. No good for motor or for fishing lines.
