Did I do something wrong ?

I posted this yesterday and I don't see it anymore.Anyways here it goes again.

Does anyone know anything about this? Rumor has it that some guy from Missouri or Mississippi came up here and won second place is an NBAA tournament and wasn't even a member of NBAA?!?! The following week the guy showed up and one of the directors asked for the money he won back and he refused. Isn't it the tournament director's job to check to see if participants are valid members? Seems to me that the director should be responsible for paying the difference to the "VALID" NBAA member that came in second and compensate everyone third place down as far as the checks went. I also heard the guy was late for weigh-in and they still gave him the money. Just wondering if it was true or not.

Why was it removed?

This is a topic that should be discussed......I certainly would like some more answers.
It seems easy enough to find out if the gentleman had a valid NBAA membership.
I'd like to know why it was removed too. A simple answer, of No, not true or Yes, true would be a better option than just deleting a post.
Who deleted it and why?

I was there. I refuse to speculate on whether the person had a membership or not, or whether he was late or not. I have my own opinions and I will not put them up on a public forum. If you want to know what I feel you can find me and ask me in person. NOT a phone call, email or PM.

The guy from Missouri is actually a pretty nice guy. I have no beef with him. Him and Emory have been on some good fish.

I have been asked by the admins to keep an eye on the tourny forum because there is an abundance of one post wonders, no profile, no name, (Loe Yoonet, low unit???) that post obscure issues with different tournament venues. I have no loyalty to any, and am not partial. The thread is not removed only invisible until I can ask some questions. I want to know why any of these concerns are not brought up by reputable club members with names to their profile, that are participating members of these organizations, and why they are not taken up with said organizations, instead of using LSCN as a venting post to bring up this stuff. Please anyone fill me in. I am not trying to butt in to caus trouble, or create issues, I would just like the forum and site to be a great place for all that wish to use it.

Thanks,

Chris V.

Chris you are doing a great job. There are people that want to post that cannot log in with their own username and password for some reason. Trust me when I say i hear it almost every tournament I fish. Some people still think that this is MY site....lol I tell them all to get ahold of [email protected]

Anyway, I am sure that there are some legit concerns about this post regardless of the originators status or legitimacy. This is proven by the Ninja post. I will refrain from commenting on the subject, but people have been asking.
Alot of questions being asked??? If they were late or not is for sure the responsibility of the TD but when it comes to membership in NBAA who ever knows. They have tournaments everyday everywhere it seems like, how would anyone be able to check if they are members or not? When you sign up at a tournamnet and pay your member fees who knows when it is all put in I fished the second Double Barrel tournamnet and paid my fees and I still havent gotten a membership package? If I was asked if I was a member of course I would say yes but I have no proof it is not like you get a recipt or something if you dont like how a tournamnet is being ran then it is simple do not fish.

Don'y know who, what or when...BUT IF YOUR GOING TO CHARGE A MEMBERSHIP FEE TO FISH A TOURNAMENT YOU SHOULD HAVE A WAY TO TELL IF SOMEONE IS A MEMBER OR NOT.
It's only fair to the "Membership"

Has anyone contacted NBAA?

Does anyone know which specific tournament this was?

Does anyone know who the winners were?

How does hersay generate so much discussion??

All good questions....

The reason a thread like this generates so much discussion is this: There are alot of NBAA anglers (and directors) that frequent this site. Membership to NBAA is required to fish their tournaments. If there is a problem with NBAA's ability to verify that membership requirements have been met before handing out checks to someone that is not a member, people would like to know - especially the ones that finished 2nd thru whatever. If the guy was late checking in, the ones that busted their butts to get in on time would like to know why it wasn't noticed by the director or his staff.

Now I wasn't there and I don't know anything about it. For all I know it's all a load of you-know-what. I'm just explaining to Chef why a topic like this can cause so much rucous.

If this person does have valid concerns, it probably should have been handled with a phone call to the NBAA or the tournament director (who's number is available on the NBAA website) instead of by floating a rumor on a public forum like this. It does look suspiscous when someone creates an LSCN membership just to do so.

This is my biggest and only concern, And thanks a ton for answering my questions.

If it was an Established member, with a complete real profile, that people know, have met, and understand the meaning in which they post, it may be questionable but may not raise so many eyebrows as to the legetimacy of the post.
I was not aware of this.
This is clearly a rules violation. I do not see how the money and trophies could be reclaimed and would not expect it to be. It should not have been released in the ifrst place. But if in fact the person involved in the catch was not a member then the catch should be disqualified and the points adjusted accordingly.

1. I dont know, I havent.

2. Yes, as far as the Tuesday Night tournament. His team won. Not 2nd place as posted here. The following Saturday they did pretty good but didnt win.

3. Do you really need to ask that? its the internet and people believe everything they read on it...lol

The second place Emery took in the Double Barrel he was partnered with that short guy that definately is an NBAA member. I happened to talk with him before weigh in. He is normally a boater in our events, so I was suprised to see him in that wrapped boat. They fished for retreads in front of the Clinton River most of the day.
I am NOT saying this is the case in this thread, but keep in mind that NBAA and other trails often at the end of the year " waive" membership dues to increase the field. I am a former NBAA director under the old owner and still had to pay the winning team that was not members.

I just mention this because 2nd thru whatever back then still paid as normal. The upside was teams could "cherry pick" the downside was they did not get any "championship points" by not being members. So this is not the first time this has happend. NOT BASHING, just saying it is almost normal as the last few events arrive. I am a member in good standing

I wouldn't be surprised to see membership waved from now on for Tuesday nights. They're drawing half the boats from last year. I know the economy has limited me to Saturdays and a few opens. letting anyone fish brings in more money for the winners but the problem is when non members fish, they usually are on them.

The late thing(if it happened) would piss me off. People gotta bring it up right away, though. Lots of times nobody wants to cause a situation. Then the team wins and now it's a problem.
