Hello all,
This year I am looking for a different place to stay when I come up in June. I usually stay in Roseville around 13 mile. Is there anywhere else decent to stay that is on the water where I could leave the boat in. I am also looking for another ramp closer to the Detroit river. I have put in at DNR, Metro, and the Coast Guard around 9mile. Since I find myself at the south end of the lake most of the time I would like to find a ramp that my truck and trailer will be safe at down in that area. I'm just trying to get a head start this year. Thanks for any and all info.

Chad,
The nine mile area is about as far south as your going to get for a safe, public accessable ramp. As for lodging, you really do not have much choice for short term stays.
The Roseville area is as good as it gets I suppose.
Anyone else have info to help?

There is very little as far as places to stay and leave your boat in the water on this lake. If I where a young gguy I'd look for a place to build a Motel on the water with a ramp that is protected. To much stealing going on around here. to leave your boat. They even cut the transom out with chainsaws to get the motors. Bob

Try the Holiday Hotel off 23 mile. I believe it is in New Baltimore. They have canal front rooms and you can moor your boat by your room. I looked for the phone # but can`t find it. Maybe someone else has it. I`ve never stayed there so I can`t say how the rooms are, but with your boat being right outside the room it should be secure. I might try it this summer myself. If anyone has the # or any experiance with this hotel, please post.

Hey Chad : As far as a launch closer to the Detroit River, there is one i go to not the best HOOD in town but they do gaurd the lot and i have never heard of anyone having any problums there.....6 -7 slips kinda a steep ramp but not bad,,over all i would give it a 7 out of 10...... its the Saint Jean boat launch, its off Jefferson ave... turn on ST> Jean head for the river, its at the end....When you come out of the channel your wright at the mouth of the river and Lake Saint Clare,, Sorta kitty corner and across the way from Peach Island............ cost like 7 $ to launch and for all day ............................................good luck

I use the St. Jean launch often. It is NOT in the nicest part of town, but I have not had any problems. YET! Like ripping said they do have an attendant there I do believe he gets there at 5 am and stays till 5 pm I would not launch if he wasnt there. The launch costs 6 dollars. I just give the guy 10 and tell him to keep a special eye on my rig. It is a very convenient launch however for those of us that fish the upper river and south end of the lake.
