QUOTE(DR.hook @ Jul 6 2009, 08:55 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>the first week is awsome then after that it slows way down. A week or two after the flies are done it starts to pick back up.
Yes, it does to some extent, when I see the fish feeding on the surface I break out some topwater goodies. Nothing is more fun for me than watching a bass slam a surface lure, too bad it didn't work this weekend.

Try a super spook jr and walk the dog. Took a few nice ones on that last summer when a few were rising in my area to take Mayflies. If you can find fish up on a 4' flat you should be able to catch them on top if you have a calm morning. Otherwise, I did well last week on a small (4") swimbait retrieved fairly slowly about 3' down over 10 fow.
Sitting at the dock over the weekend and my ten year old decides to switch from worms to fishflys. He ran around gathering up the pesky buggers and he was nailing the blue gill left and right. The worms did nothing but drop a fishfly back in the drink and slowly retrieve back to the surface. He was having a ball.
anythings possible, bread works, my grandmother use to use cigarette butts, ive even heard of sprayin bait with WD-40, i wouldnt try it but have heard some odd things that supposedly work. i guess this would end my curiosity....... wouldn't the WD-40 be illegal to use? i figure, you'd get a fine for contaminating the water.
fishflies suck and all, but i never thought they were that bad to use OFF, they're attract to light, the sent wouldn't detour them at all. id rather those than the nats or w/e lil bugs that smother you and your boat, going up your nose and ears, AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH HATE EM lol
