Fishing in the rain

Went fishing with Propwash and Stormchaser last night. Had just got out to the spot when it decided to open up and pour on us. Didn't stop us from fishing though. Was trying to get Stormchaser a birthday muskie for him. He almost got one too. Didn't have much luck though. I had a pike follow my lure and a nice size muskie but didn't connect. Stormchaser had two hits but didn't hook em. One though came out of the water like a great white going after a seal. It just jumped right out to get that lure but unfortunately missed getting the lure in mouth. Oh well, better luck next time.

Propwash was great. This was the first time I went casting for muskie and had a blast. He was a great teacher and didn't give me a hard time when I made mistakes. Thanks a lot Propwash for taking me out.

Stormchaser I hope you had a great time. I know you could barely stand by the end of the night having fished all day but you hung in there like a pro! Hope you had a happy birthday.

Here's a pic of us all wet at the end of the night. Not the best since there's no fish in it but oh well next time we'll get em!

Very cool!

Sounds like a tough day, but the kind of day you never forget and that proves you're a hardcore angler, which all of you appear to be. Keep at the casting, and they say they'll come, but going and not catching is pretty much the gist of flycasting, so I feel your pain.

Hats off to Propwash for introducing more people to muskie casting!!! "To troll is fine, to cast is divine."

That's musky fishing, sometimes you catch 'em and sometimes you don't. Having fun's the most important part, anyway.

Happy belated b-day, Stormchaser! We should fish sometime. I usually have an open seat.
Sounds like a blast. Now that I've got decent rain gear and a boat that only has upholstery on the cooler seat I can enjoy the rain more.

happy belated B-day chaser and thanks for the reports!

Thanks for the happy b-day Kelly, and it was really nice to meet, and fish with you yesterday. You did fantastic for your first time castinfg for skis, and even had 2 nice follows! It was a blast out there despite getting soaked from the rain.
Even though we didn't get any in the boat, we had some phenominal action. Especially when that monster exploded on my bucktail.
I'll never forget that as long as I live now. I plan to get my revenge on that fish as well! I'm glad you had a fun time like Bill and I did. We will all have to definitely do that again sometime.
Next time, we will for sure get into them and get a few in the boat. Casting is not hard at all. When trolling gets boring, or you just want a change up, bust out the casting gear and go for it! It's incredible how much you can get energized from just an explosive strike. Truly awesome the power those fish have.

Hey Esox, thanks for the words. I enjoy getting people out, it's as much fun meeting new friends that share the same enthusiasm as I do, and the peeple on this site do.
Great to see someone get a nice fish, or even the excitement and smile of the almost caught fish. I was in the middle and got to see both of Kellys fish follow, and the one that hit Storms lure the first time just below the surface that swam away, and that "Monster Beast" as well.

I think I should get an oxygen tank on standby for Jason, when he gets his first big Muskie, I think he will need it.

Thanks Brian. I look forward to getting out with you again. You make for a good time out and great teacher too.
You taught this old dog some new tricks.

PS- My daughter and her friends were with my wife and saw you the other day at McDonalds while they were there, down by Ryan & 13 or 14 Mile. She was excited to see you and told her girlfriends, 5 of them from her softball team that I fished with you. My wife said they were like "your dad fishes with him???? But your dads so old!
