If I had to choose one song to describe what I wanted in/from a significat other ... this is about as perfect as it gets... (just flip the feminine words to masculine)

Somebody

I want somebody to share
Share the rest of my life
Share my innermost thoughts
Know my intimate details
Someone who'll stand by my side
And give me support
And in return
She'll get my support
She will listen to me
When I want to speak
About the world we live in
And life in general
Though my views may be wrong
They may even be perverted
She'll hear me out
And won't easily be converted
To my way of thinking
In fact she'll often disagree
But at the end of it all
She will understand me

I want somebody who cares
For me passionately
With every thought and
With every breath
Someone who'll help me see things
In a different light
All the things I detest
I will almost like
I don't want to be tied
To anyone's strings
I'm carefully trying to steer clear of
Those things
But when I'm asleep
I want somebody
Who will put their arms around me
And kiss me tenderly
Though things like this
Make me sick
In a case like this
I'll get away with it

Nope! Maybe if you hum a few bars....?

I think we may have that on vinyl still. Wow, I feel old. The ironic thing is that I think they had other relationship songs like "Master and Servant" and "Lie to me" on it too.

Somebody from Depesh Mode!
I have two versions of this song, one from the album and the other is live. Gives me the chills! Great song, slightly sad. I sang this song with Cliff Erickson years ago in a bar in Rochester. Pretty cool tune.

This one made me question many things .....

Blasphemous Rumours

Girl of sixteen, whole life ahead of her
Slashed her wrists, bored with life
Didn't succeed, thank the Lord
For small mercies

Fighting back the tears, mother reads the note again
Sixteen candles burn in her mind
She takes the blame, it's always the same
She goes down on her knees and prays

I don't want to start any blasphemous rumours
But I think that God's got a sick sense of humor
And when I die I expect to find Him laughing

Girl of eighteen, fell in love with everything
Found new life in Jesus Christ
Hit by a car, ended up
On a life support machine

Summer's day, as she passed away
Birds were singing in the summer sky
Then came the rain, and once again
A tear fell from her mother's eye

I don't want to start any blasphemous rumours
But I think that God's got a sick sense of humor
And when I die I expect to find Him laughing

Can't believe you just mentioned Cliff and of course the Hamlin Pub days. I can remember going up on Tuesdays to have a few and listen to him.

Speaking of Tuesdays, maybe I'll head up for old time sakes.

Blasphemous rumors used to be a favorite of mine; never really listened to the words till a few years after... but the tune leaves a mark with you.

Cure, depeche mode, smiths... those were the days. I used to have a crush on a guy with red mohawk hair, zits and earrings... yucky!!! But he got me interested in the music.

You know you're old when:

You remember going to the Depeche Mode concert in late 1984. It was a great show, but I forget where it was (I wasn't driving that night).

Blasphemous Rumors made me question a bunch of things, too...

Cure: love cats used to be my most favorite song....

boys don't cry was good too... going to have to buy that CD again.

Standing on the beach with a gun in my hand, staring at the sea, staring at the sand...

that's all I remember of that song.

"...staring down the barrel at the Arab on the ground. I can see his open mouth, but I hear no sound.

I'm alive
I'm dead
I'm the stranger
Killing an arab"

And 2, 2, 2 for my family
And 3, 3, 3 for my heartache
And 4, 4, 4 for my headaches
And 5, 5, 5 for my lonely
And 6, 6, 6 for my sorrow
