Giving in

With all of these reports of eyes and perch, ive decided im gonna take the kayak out and see if i cant catch a couple. Ive only caught one in my life (21 incher) and that was years ago. Ive read all of the reports from here and have a basic idea, but just wanted to post to see if anyone had any other tips they could share before i go out.

Im stuck between whether i want to try drifting crawler harnesses, or bobber fishing like Jimmy's said. Ill be launching from the daysail launch at metro, and fishing somewhere in the bay, not sure where yet.

IF ANYONE GIVES ME A TIP THAT LEADS TO THE SUCCESSFUL CAPTURE OF ONE OR MORE OF THESE TOOTHY CRITTERS, THE FILLETS CAN BE YOURS. (ive still got a bunch of white bass to cook, lol)

I would drift the harnesses(unless you happen to come across a school of perch). You could also try long lining some rapalas. Like Jimmy's said, try along weed beds.
I have no tips for you, But wish you good luck and hope you have fun.
let me know how you do i have been thinking of trying the canoe out there
try driftin with some minnow #4 hook 24inch leader and a couple split shoots
Thanks all, ill let you know how i do. Does anyone know any general areas for weedbeds. It seems that there are weeds everywhere, and its hard for me to tell in the kayak where changes occur. I usually paddle straight out from the daysail until im as far out as the point, and then just start drifting or slowly paddle trolling south, making turns here and there to cover as much water as i can.

Any tips on depth? It seems that theyve been catching them in almost every depth.
we need to go out i'll take the canoe and you in the kayak i have a portable fish finder and i'll havesome one that knows the lake better i'm just not use to a canoe but i do know boats
