Went on Sunday- watched from the DYC
The flip & landing happened right in front of us!
-still don't know how he managed to land it
-barely missed docks and boats -Incredible!
My friend got a photo of it on it's way down- priceless
It was pretty scary for the rescue team too. A good friend of mine was one of the divers. I was too far away to actually see the flip...all we saw was a spray of water and the radio went nuts.
Driver had fractured lower leg, fractured vertabrae and a mild concussion.
It was a busy weekend for rescue this year with all the boats sinking and breaking apart.
Yeah but I have been running a rescue boat there for the past seven years and normally you see a lot of spray. This was after turn two and is the fastest part of the course, he would have been going around 150mph setting up for turn three. Not to see any spray is surprising.
the pic is real. team llumar emailed it to me this morning. no forgery there (jack's helped sponsor it). i wouldn't dare forge a photo when the driver got hurt like he did.
