Looks to me like they didn't intend for it to drop though the ice.. LOL great planning on their part I would say. In the one picture it looks like the 4 guys are standing there trying to figure out how in the heck they were goiing to get that thing on shore. The guy that drove it off of the barge was probabley saying as he went "I think I can, I think I can, I think I can, DAMM I guess I can't" LOL

To me it looks like they are doing everything bass ackwards. Doesn't look like anything was planned or they know what their doing for that matter.
But what the hell do I know about moving heavy equipment onto an island in the middle of a frozen lake?

That looks just like the tower at the Algonac State Park and the one in Marine City. I drove by the tower at the State Park 2 days ago while they were working on it. 3 brand new Toyota pickups were parked in front. One might think that all the money being spent to "protect" us from our good neighbor to the North might be spent on domestic products. The US economy surely needs the help.

"Ok stop the barge there."

"is this close enough to get the digger off?"

"sure no sweat, I parked my Blue Dodge over here a couple weeks ago and it was fine."
