I still don't understand the point of an ice luge. Why not just use a normal shot glass rather than everyone sucking on the same big block of ice?

because it's more fun and it looks cool!
I personally like it because it's not as strong after getting diluted by the ice on the way down...

You probably loose some of the alcohol though. And who wants it diluted?
