I noticed that the Hook Line and Sinker Bar has been closed for about a month now. The sign out from said "closed for the hoildays see you in 2010. It still has not open for 2010. This is the Bar across for the Fairhaven launch. Does anyone know whats going on with this place? We have lost 3 place up in that area the Sandbar ( To reopen I am told) Munchies ( this was also Brisbay and a few other names) and now Hook line and sinker.

There's a whole story floating around about the guy that owns Hook Line and Snoopy's took them both back.

I also heard BG's are on there last legs. Someone said the Sandbar was going to be Nelson's again.

Who knows what's true or not.

There is always Rene's for a good Polish dinner. He's not going anywhere.

More than that - Vernier's and Villagio's also folded. Will the last one out of Fair Haven please turn out the lights?

Auto sales are projected to be up 69% in the first quarter. I'll take that as a sign of the economy over a couple of hole in the wall bars in the middle of nowhere closing up!!!

Tin Fish is closed for the season. There are plenty of good places to eat & drink out here. In the winter, with no marina/cottage traffic & cops sitting outside the bars, pulling over every car that pulls out, it's tough for the bars with big rent to pay the bills.

FWIW, I have two friends that have been out for over a year and both got called back last week. Both are machinists.....

Lets hope the trend stays and they are employed for a while!

Exactly, I know a guy who has been out of work on and off(mostly off) for the past year.
He just interviewed Saturday and was sent for a physical, just waiting to hear some more good news...

Yes I have eaten at both for breakfast. It jsut seems a lot of places up in Clay/ Algonac have gone out of Bussiness in the past year. Jiggers moved to cheers but when I drive by there they are not packed like the old place

zero times 1.69 still equals zero.

I know it's not that bad - but I wouldn't be celebrating a potential 12 million unit year with an industry geared toward 17 million units - even if last year was under 10 million. Just guessing on the numbers here, so don't quote me.

On a scale from 1-10, we went from about a 6 to a 2, and we'll be lucky to hit 4 this year. Still not quite "good times"

For sure not good times, but I will take a 69% gain over another 40% loss anyday!!!
