I would love to change my nightly sleepy time from 8 hours to 6 hours...

2 extra hours a day would equal 730 extra awake hours per year.

or 4.34 extra awake weeks....

Would be so nice to just get out of bed when I naturally wake up around 6-6:15 and get my work outs done for the day, etc... instead of laying there enjoying the sounds of outside and the peace of laying down...

What do you need? Would you like to change it? How long would it take to get used to the routine?

Everyday is different for me since I don't wake up to an alarm clock.

8 hours of sleep is too much and days that I sleep more I just feel more tired.

This friday will be rough for me since we need to be at the boat well 5am sharp!

Maybe I'll just sleep on the boat.

I wish I didn't have to sleep, then my life would seem 50% longer. I think it would be great to live 50% longer and be able to do 50% more things.

There's got to be a better way to life... <_<

The problem is, once you figure out a way to do it, you're practically going to be the only one awake and then you'd have to worry about all the sleeping people. <_<

Maybe it's not worth the hassle afterall...

my job has shifted my hours quite a bit in the past year, first i worked from noon - 8, then from 3-midnight, then from 9-6, now its 7-5!!!!!!!!
i used to get more sleep, now its average about 6 1/2 per night

hard to change the amount and times you sleep, body doesnt like you very much...
i try to make it up on the weekends, but friday is always a party night and saturday i am always up early and on the boat by 7, so thats only about 4 hours sleep on friday.

looks like we all need alot more sleep....

Everybody's different as far as base sleep requirements. I've gotten myself used to some pretty bizarre schedules. It's a catch-22 though - i might steal 2 hours from my sleep, but i find, try as i might, i'm not as productive. So it's usually a wash. I wouldn't do it - I really wish i could get myself back to eight hours a night - i think it would fix a lot of things for me.

Went to the dr. once cuz I thought I was sick or something.....Every joint in my body hurt. I could barely walk because of the pain in my feet and up my legs. You couldn't even lightly put a finger to any joint on my body w/o me cringing in pain......Well, I wasn't sick. I had sleep deprivation, majorly.

It's a job, but now I try to get a good nights rest. Minimum of 6 hrs., like 7 or 8. About once or twice a year I'll sleep 12 and it's great.

This last week has sucked for me. Haven't slept but a few hours each night. Not from going out and having a good time either. <_< UGH!

Usually 6 for me is all that I need. However, my circadian rhythm is very hard to change, hence no matter how late I stay up on the weekend, I get up at my usual time, which is 5:30am! <_<

Also, interestingly enough, I rarley need an alarm clock to wake up at my usual time--although I always have it set. I can wake up all by my self at the same time every day! Whether I want to or not...

QUOTE(hammer @ Jun 22 2004, 12:15 PM)Lucky to get 5 to 6 a night.

8 hours???

Ditto.

P, 6hrs a night is not all it's cracked up to be. Most of those extra waking hours usually get used up working rather then playing. So you end up more tired on even less sleep. Its OK short term but long term it can ware on you. I have been known to sleep for 12 to 15 hrs straight on the rare occasion that I get a chance to catch up. But then I got ticked cuz I wasted a day off.

I would much rather get 8hrs a night.
