I remember being in 3rd grade and having boys come to my house.

My daughter Danielle is in 4th grade (9 years old) and I have discovered that she has her first crush and is telling me she is in loooooooove.

They write each other notes, emails
, and have each other's phone numbers - but the calls haven't started yet.

So, I was wondering what age you guys were when you started "going" with members of the opposite sex? To me, she's in 4th grade now and I give her my blessing - it's gonna happen whether I agree or not - she's a girl and has horomones and really has a soft spot for this kid - so I tell her to let him chase her, let him call her, etc. My sister says I'm nutz - that she's too young. Danielle's dad & I agree that she is not - yes, she has the rest of her life for this, but isn't this about the age when this stuff starts to happen?

Not sure if I'm ready for this or not....but I am accepting of it

Cripes I think sometime real soon the phrase "it's hard to be a parent" is going to have a WHOLE NEW meaning to me - here come the teenage years. F*c&!

I didn't start "going out" with anyone until 7th grade which was junior high. When we went out it was usually with a group of friends.

Rebecca is in 6th grade at the middle school and I'm dreading when all this is going to start happening. She has had some boys call and stop by with friends. Gary watches the boys like a hawk when they come around or call. He's being a protective dad. Nothing wrong with that.

Just be on top of everything and open with her Shandog so she knows she can come to you. Also so you know what is going on with her.

I think that's why I taking an accepting approach to this - if we're open with each other about this, and I welcome him (and his friends, you know how 4th graders are - they need their friends to even pass love notes the person they like) over here then that will alleviate the need to hide anything from me and sneak around. I certaintly don't want that.

Gotta give 'em a rope with a long string attached at mom's hip still...

I was in the 6th grade when I started receiving phone calls from the oppisite sex or really considered a boy my "boy Friend"

I have 3 daughters 5,9 and 11. My 9 year old has a "boyfriend" at school only.. We classify it as a boy whom is her friend...
My 11 year old just this year is having crushes on boys. no phone calls or anything like that going on, but they hang out riding bikes and hanging out at school functions. I don't think I would be to keen on the idea of them "dating" if that's what you would call it. I think phone calls and emails are fine. And yes It is hard being a parent especially from age 9 and up.. UGH!

I remember flirting at the age of 5.......haven't stopped yet
First real boy friend in 3rd grade....He's now a state trooper in Texas or something.......It's amazing all the crushes you go through

My oldest, Nicole invited all of her little boy friends to her 5th birthday party I remember (have the pic on my desk still). Two of them were fighting to hang with her at the party. It was toooo cute
She goes through boy friends every year like socks.....She did have one for about 9 months....didn't like him. But, he's out of the picture now. Didn't let her know I didn't care for him. I was always nice to him.

Nothing you can do about it but keep the line of communication open. At Daniel's age she will be honest with you....as they get into middle school they get sneaky
Since it's nothing I didn't do I am on to her and her friends like glue
They roller skate, movies and hang at friends houses.....

Good luck Shan......let her have her fun
It's all innocent at this age

High school is what makes me nervous.....we all know what happens then
All I know is I'm keeping my eyes and ears open.....

I was in 3rd grade and got busted for going under a table with Michelle Vollmers during a birthday part in our class. I remember that we were basically just pressing our lips together and moving our heads back and forth. We caught on pretty fast though!

Lets see first you send beer to school in the lunch box. Now a boyfriend in the 4th grade. You might as well just hand her the keys to the Vette right now.

When I was in Kindergarten, I use to sit by this kid named, Tim, and kissed him on the cheek every chance I could get. Then when we had recess, me and some other girls would chase him around and corner him...and start kissing him! (poor guy was scared). After a while, the teacher would reprimand us....I even had to be put in the corner and stay after class! Then when I walked home, all the safety boys would tease me.

As I got into 1st, 2nd, and etc., grade I became even more boy crazy. I use to write love notes and leave them in the boys mail box.

When I got into Junior High, and the stakes were higher, I became more inhibited and afraid of "boys". I thought if you french kissed someone you would get pregnant!! Well...needless to say...that pretty much ruined my reputation until high school. But, that didn't matter much, because I enjoyed hanging out more with my friends than having a boyfriend. If I started 'going out" with someone, I always broke up with them because it got in the way of my social life.

So, my hormones started way too early then started to taper off when I got older (NO comments from the Instigator!!). Not that I wasn't feeling amorous around the boys....I just liked hanging out and having fun with friends rather than having a relationship at such a fun age.

Then when I became the kissing queen.............

4th grade, her name was Cheryl. I remember thinking she was so cute. I saw her again years later when I was in a different high school, went back to visit an old friend of mine..............man-oh-man did somebody beat her with the ugly stick!!!!!!!!! That either shows you how much a person can change in about 7 or 8 yrs. or maybe it just shows you what horrible taste and judgement you have at that age!!!

I know........not very nice, but you should've seen her!!!

I can remember having crushes as far back as 1st grade-
no boyfriend til I was 14- but couldn't "date" til I was 16.

so far I've been lucky with my kids- my 17yr old has a boyfriend for the first time. ( I made dinner for them last week...that was interesting
)

my younger ones have had crushes too- but I monitor it- ask alot of questions.

I was an ugly nerd in grade school
So my first boyfrind whom I held hands with wasn't until Jouinor high gosh 8th grade maybe. Yes I lived a secluded life. My father is from the old country. So I couldn't even leave the house to go on "dates" until I was 17 and had my own car.

hazy! LMAO!!!!!!!

i was in 6th grade when mike millette asked me to square dance at 6th grade camp, and that was on the night the parents came up to visit.

i don't think we ever kissed while we were 'going out.' he moved after 6th grade.

BUT funny side note: when i was 13 or 14 he showed up at my doorstep while my parents were gone on a friday night and i had some of the girls over. he introduced himself and we were all '
HUBBA!' and then goes "i never did this to you before" then LAID THIS MASSIVE KISS ON ME!!!!!

my first real kiss LOL!
