Lot's of family for us, but it was fun. We went to George George Park on Moravian near Cass for family pictures Saturday. Beautiful park! Never knew it was there, great for wedding or family pictures for sure.
Got done with that about 5:30pm then headed home real quick to hook up the jetboat, NEEDED to get on the lake. Headed over to Metro to hang with Secret Agent/Area 51 and the Mariners crew. Fun time and the pig was GOOD!!
Sunday we spent the day at Beacon with our families. Did some fishin, kids swam and we bbq'ed. I am burnt pretty badly, I didn't put any block on and I suffered big time last night
Definitely had sun stroke. Despite that, it was a nice day, but it was hard seeing our friends taking off to the bay for the day
We've had some sort of obligation ever since we put the boat in and this past weekend was the last weekend we have anything until the middle of September and it's going to STAY THAT WAY, weekends will consist of BOATING! Looking forward to this weekend!

Great boating weekend for us -- in spite of 2 inland obligations.

Sorry you got sunburn Steph. That's not fun!

Hard to believe Summer is here already! Seems like just the other day we all were talking about launching.

Take a camera. A picture is worth 1000 words after all.

I should know better, I'm pretty anal about making sure we have our sunblock on, but didn't think about it until it was too late. Oh well, it'll turn into a nice tan.

I'm actually glad summer is just now showing up, all those obligations would have been harder to deal with if the weather was really nice.

I got my belly sunburned.

But, I managed to get in the water and scrub most of the wiskers off of the sides of the boat. It was a little cold at first, but Tigs said to quit crying and clean the boat.

We had a great weekend, it started out Thursday after work with a cruise down to InKahoots. After a couple phone calls we were picked up and enjoying dinner at the Blue Goose with Dot and neighbor friends. Nice cruise back and a peacful sleep in the rain. Ran around Friday and fixed the dinghy floor and just enjoyed the marina. Had some Secret Agent pizza and the rest is fuzzy but enjoyed sleeping in. Sat. the winds were too strong for me so we enjoyed the kids day at the marina. Two ladies ventured out in the dinghy and came back soaking wet. BBQ'd a good meal and enjoyed some late night fishing with good friends. Then Sun. waited out the clouds and headed to the moot. Met up with more great friends and walked the gaunlet. Still can't get over that music if that's what you call it. Wrapped it up late and had a drink back at the marina. Finished up my pizza when we got home.

Our first real boating weekend of the season too! We left friday a.m. about 10:30 from Belle Maer on our friends boat for a weekend rendezvous with fellow Mariner members at Metro Beach. We had a great BBQ (burgers, dogs and pass along dishes) before the storms roared in.

Saturday I had a chance to get reaquainted with Convincor, Sooo Sassy, Area 51 and Secret Agent. Oh....can't forget, we also met Cruizer (Area 51's goldendoodle) and hubs and I both fell in LOVE!!!!. Unfortunately, spending 6 months in a Florida condo prevents us from having a dog anymore

Anyway, Sat evening, I had the BEST sausage stuffed pig...yummy
And this from a gal that doesn't usually like roast pig. And finally, Sunday was warm and sunny, finally!!!

Had a great weekend, and the start of Today was wonderful..

Then got a call for a meeting at 2pm, well working for GM (salary) we get these calls all the time, so no big deal right?

WRONG!!!!!!!

Only two people in the room for the so called meeting, one was my immediate supervisor and the other a security guard with a BOX... yep you guessed it, did the box give you a clue?

GM doesn't give salary a pink slip they give them a BOX and an escort to your office so you have 20 minutes to clear it out. Seems they were going to cut my department at the shut down on Friday but Ole good worker me... I have all my work caught up and was starting on orders after the two week shut down when summoned for the meeting.

Oh well, I'm already retired from the Marine Corps and collecting a pension. GM gave me a reason to get out bed in the morning. I guess its sleep in from now on.

HINT: for new job hunters and those like me, don't tell anybody you already draw a pension. That was what they said.... "oh well, you have nothing to fear, you already have a pension."

Time to join the ranks of the unemployed. Maybe a move back to California?

PH, What dept/group did you work in? I wasn't aware of cut backs this week but then again I traveling again and way out of touch with what is going on at the Tech Center. Feel free to PM if you don't want to post here.
