I went through there around 5:50am and that was the most amount of police I've seen at an accident scene. Only saw a semi sitting on the shoulder but it was dark and lit up with a slew of flashing blue.

I work with someone that drove past the scene before the police were there. That was a little before 5:30. he said that there were motorists that had stopped and that the person was lying in the road.

Apparent suicide shuts down westbound I-94 near M-59
Santiago Esparza / The Detroit News
Chesterfield Township -- A man intentionally walked into the path of a tractor-trailer truck this morning, killing himself, said Macomb County Sheriff Mark Hackel.

The man was driving a freight truck about 5:19 a.m. on eastbound Interstate 94 near M-59 when he told his passenger, also a buddy, "that he was somewhat despondent," Hackel said.

Then the driver got out the truck, hopped over a wall separating the east and west sides of the freeway and into the path of the truck, Hackel said.

"That is without question what caused his death," Hackel said.

The incident had the westbound side of the freeway closed at 7:15 a.m. today, and Hackel said that portion of the freeway will remain closed for a few more hours for an investigation.

Hackel said the man was in his 30s and a resident of St. Clair County. Hackel did not release more details about the man's identity.

Traffic has snarled in the area, according to broadcast media reports.

Once again people, if you're going to commit suicide, WHY must you involve other people that are just trying to go about their day and screw up their lives?! If you're going to be a coward, do it in the privacy of your own home please.

Snow!!!

About 5 or 6 years ago, up north near the cabin, a young couple was riding their 4 wheelers, and the wife was hit by a Suburban on her 4 wheeler crossing Co. Rd. 489. No suicide attempt here, but it was a sad and morbid reminder as the Oscoda Co. Sheriff found it not necessary to do anything about the 20 foot long blood stain on the road
It was there for a few days until it rained.

There was a similar suicide incident like this a couple years ago out on 96 by Wixom. Guy went into work in the morning (worked in the same building as me), left work around 9 or 10 and drove out past Wixom. Pulled over to the side of the road then jumped out in front of a truck.

I cannot imagine what the two drivers (who hit the victims) are going through. Like you said... someone just doing their jobs and they get saddled with something like that.

A guy was hit and killed on Maple Rd here a few years ago practically right outside my building. There was a stain in the left-turn lane for like a week.
