the patterns are different this year, people are catching all thru the DR, LSC, SCR, just gotta change your tactic a little to get them. Usually by this time of year the north, middle, and south channel, as well as algonac and marine city start to slow to almost no, or no fish being caught, not true this year. Up the SCR, the smaller ones are being caught in PH, and as you come down the river, they are getting bigger for some reason, even into lake st clair. If your not catching them in LSC, get out by the ditch, don't waste time pounding the 400 club, metro or geno's if there is nothing hitting there, i know all along the ditch they are catching them.

The DR has picked up really good at night. I fished a lot in the early summer, and would only pick up maybe 1 a week. Lately, I've been bummed if I don't get one or even two, using pretty much the same tactics. All from shore, of course!

To me, it seems as though you can match lures/colours to conditions once you find out what they like in certain elements/conditions. The tricky thing is, of couse, finding them! For example, when the water is dirty or choppy, I've had success on deeper diving cranks. When the water is clear and calm, top water/shallow stuff seems to work better. Jigs always seem to do ok, just less snags with a crank, at least for me! Plus, with having to bring them over the rail, I have the confidence of 2 or 3 treble hooks, as opposed to one hook on the jig.

Amen to that, just have to find them. Seems to be running about a month behind, and now we are gona get them a month ahead of where they usually are. Been hammering them in the river, have even gotten a pike and a keeper muskie out of the SCR this past week. It has been a great year.
