Inventions - boat or marine related

Alright everybody. Here's my mission. I am taking a class called senior project at LTU, and I have to invent something. If it's good enough it may even call for a patent (that's a good thing!). I need ideas, lots of 'em. Use your imagination, "think outside of the box". If your idea was created, would anybody buy it? How much would it cost to make and sell? These are the key questions. This class is not a goof, I have to invent something from cradle to grave, and it has to look like it is ready to sell on the shelf, no Mickey Mouse/duct tape hack jobs allowed. It's going to cost me money so I'm lookin for some great ideas, and there's no one better to ask than you guys!

What does you boat need that nobody has thought of?

Keywords: assessories(sp?), safety items, after-market,

Any Ideas?

How about an interlock switch conected to the starter that would prevent the engin from starting if gas fumes were detected.
How about:

An anti-powerloading sensor that won't allow boats to powerload onto trailers.

A sensor that kills the motors if someone or something is too close to the swim platform.

Oh how funny..... I'm still laughing.... lol hahaha

Or, how about a portable boat sling that hooks up to your trailer allowing you to use a power/or hand crank to raise the back of your boat to allow you to clean/paint/polish the hull of your boat while it sits on the trailer...

does it have to me a mechanical invention, or device, or does it just have to be a marketable product (ie clothing)

homebrew had a good idea last night, hope i'm not giving his invention away, he want to make a line of gangsta' clothing marketed at inner city youth and call it LIL' BANGER

bet it would sell fast

OK.... this is my idea. But NO ONE CAN LAUGH at it!!!

Picture this (especially females)

Its a cold winter night and nature is calling SOOO bad that it wakes you from your sleep.
You feel your way into the bathroom, and go to sit down on the seat. The seat is so damn cold that it shocks you to a wide awake state...
(like I said, geared more towards females... but ya never know if #2 is going to call). How nice would it be to sit down on a nice preheated toilet seat????

That is my idea.... a heated toilet seat!!!!

Mr. Big, when this patent makes millions you can thank me by personal check or cash.

they have these, heated toilet seats, and heated towel racks.

How bout an affordable new 30 foot boat
yeah, one that is under $150,000

How about a beter airflow system into the marine engines/engine room?

opening would have to be near the windshield area, with a waterproof fabric, but still lets the air in. Like those hunting tents/blinds material, coloered to match the boat, and an air flow system that routes the fresh air intake to the engine room while under power.
to help with the expulsion of engine heat/ engine room temps... and enhance performance with fresh air, with out putting on big scoops
been thinking on this myself........

how about a window defoger for boats front wind shield. something in the glass or a portable blower with heat that realy works not like cheap ones they sell now. i hate it when mine does that. or a better winshield wiper the one on mine sucks , it has plastic gears in it ive had to take apart and replace few times allready gear in side.
I have just finished up the drarwings on something I would like to build for my boat. Big, send me a email adress and I will send you a copy and see if its something you can use.
Congrats at being a senior at LTU.... I attend classes their as well, what are you studing?
LTU in the house. I am studying Mechanical Engineering, just started my junior year. I will put my thinking cap on and see what I can come up with. If you need any help with anything let me know, I am there Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings. Good luck.

It's cool to have some LTU in the house! I am a transfer student from OCC, I went into the Engineering Technology program. I'm in my last semester. And you?

Information Technology Program. I also transfered credits from MCC & OCC. I attend classes part-time, but my status is Junior. This semester I have one class, Monday and Wendesday nights. I was thinking about changing majors, how do you like it?

Let me know if there is anything I can do to help out.
Lightweight blow molded plastic cockpit cover for offshores to get rid of that damn canvas and better protect the interior from the elements.
