Soo Sassy you can get an enhanced driver's license to get across. I just got mine and it only takes about a week and an 1/2.

I called the Cove about needing the I68, and found that it's not really needed. The Mrs and I both have passorts, I have my Nexus, and she'll have hers hopefully soon after her interview on Monday.

I also paid my User Fee to CBP for having a private Vessel 30'+ in length and just received my decal this past weekend.

Upon return home Sunday, my uncle told me not even to call in my return, but I'm nervous that may not be 100% street legal, but I also don't know what # to call, I've tried calling Customs, and I can't find my way to a human being to get clairification.

Just a reminder...
when you call in after you hit ground in Canada, be specific about the alcohol you have on board, even if it sounds like a lot. Once they hear where you are and what you'll be doing, they'll understand.

Yes, at the Cove Marina on the Thames River.

Okay, I'll be the ignorant one and ask where that is?

Cove Marina is in Canada, in the Thames River, ~30miles SSE of Metro.

Cove Marina - Location

I did find out that if you don't have a NEXUS card and you plan on anchoring/docking in canada overnight that unless you goto to a customs reporting station when you get home, you for sure need an I-68, and there isn't a reporting station at Metro like the CBP website says. Which means since the Mrs couldn't get an interview for her NEXUS, we needed to goto cutoms yesterday and spend another $16 so we could go on Friday . . .

I just spoke to Officer Turner at the Detroit Customs office. (Detroit Area (Monroe to Metro Beach) (313) 393-3949). I explained we are US citizens, docked here and will be traveling to Canada this weekend with passports. I asked about the Check in station at Metro Beach. She said to call the above number (cell phone is OK) about an hour before you're going to hit Metro Beach and THEY WILL MEET YOU THERE. I told her there may be a few boats coming back on Sunday, and she said they're prepared to inspect boats, check documents and send us on our way.

This inspection is in lieu of having I-68s and/or Nexus documents. A passport (proof of citizenship) is required.

Good to go!

fingers crossed, girl!

Have you been able to track in online?

Okay, I just did and it says that it has been mailed and I should receive it on or before the 14th.
