Good morning everyone! New member here, so apologies if this is in the wrong topic. My brother just bought a house not too far from the lake and has invited me to bring my boat out for a week in early June. We've both never fished the lake before so I'm looking for pointers. Mostly going to try for smallies, but wouldn't mind perch or walleye. I have a small Tracker boat (16' 8") and want to keep us as safe as possible. I'm thinking we'll try the mile roads if the weather cooperates and possibly the Fisher Bay area. I'm not looking for someone's honey hole but does anyone have suggestions for an area I may have overlooked? Thanks!

The mile roads as well as Fisher's bay and Goose Bay are all good areas for smallies. I never had seen too many walleyes at all at Fisher's & Goose bays, but there are some walleyes in a few of the cuts going into these two bays from the Snybora. Cuts like the Doty Hwy (on LSC maps) carry a lot of walleyes and perch. Fish close to the reeds in the two bays for smallies & perch and some great gills.

Might want to try behind Selfridge Field for some good bass fishing and walleyes, and the shipping lane should not be ignored. (walleye, bass & perch). My boat is a Smoker Craft, 16' 8", and I go all over the lake with no problem accept when the wind is kind of brutal. Anywhere near or around Strawberry Island is good for bass and perch as well. Enjoy your visit while here & good luck to you guys!

One more good location for some nice smallies is the bay between the Lake St Clair Metro park and the Clinton River. I fish in tight to that shoreline and get some real nice bass, gills & sunnies. (Don't know the name of this bay, but you can see it on a LSC map).

That is great information! Thanks a lot! I've been looking at my lakemaster chart and marking interesting spots along the mile roads and out from Harley Ensign. Just hoping for cooperative weather. Good luck to you this season and thanks again!

in front of selfridge is great too
That's my normal go to location as it's a really short ride for me from my house. I go to other spots when the fishing has been "slow" for me behind Selfridge Field. I can get walleyes. perch, gills, sunnies, catfish, pike, etc. etc. in that bay. And I usuallu catch huge rockies (and many of them) in that bay too.
