I heard part of the Gene Simmons interview and I thought what he said was true (from a business perspective). I don't like what he said, but I'd have to agree with it. Again, paraphrased, he said Adam made a business mistake by focusing publicly on his private life, his sexuality. Doing so will detract from his business life and historically has been a bad business decision for other musicians who've done the same thing.
As a good friend of mine says, "I don't make the rules, I just play by them."

Gene Simmons is a tool, but I think he is right. Not that I think he would have had much success anyway.
