I have had my range almost 5 yrs. and bought the extended warranty through the store (ABC Warehouse).....Every single time I try to do a cleaning mode in the oven the breaker blows on the back of it and I have to have service come out. So, they replaced the breaker with a newer updated, higher temperature breaker, great....Until I clean the oven and IT blows, AGAIN!
ABC is sending a tech....but, does not solve my problem. How do I clean the damn oven?
I call KitchenAid direct and am told the breaker is not under warranty, only the burners, etc....So I ask, fine, but how can I clean my oven? I have not been able to thoroughly clean it in 5 yrs. KA tells me to call my extended warranty and have them fix it. They are already coming out again...so that advice does me no good. I ask for a 10th. time, "how do I clean my oven?" Finally she is going to transfer me to her supervisor, or so she says...cuz instead of transferring the b!tch hung up on me.

Unfreakinbelievable.
What warranty
LOL
Yeah, I know....I just think they should make it right. I bought a self cleaning oven and I want to use it. It cleans the oven really nice when they do work, lol. I forgot to mention that when the breaker pops I can't even open the oven door so I have everything that was in the oven such as the racks on my counter...just sitting there.
Ok, I vented, now to write KitchenAid a nice letter.
How long into the cleaning process does it take before it trips? Do they (or have they) reset the breaker at times instead of replacing it? Do they have to come out in order to unlock the door so you can use it again?
What type of oven is it... freestanding, slide-in, or built-in? (if built-in) Is there a microwave above it? If freestanding or slide-in, have you tried removing the lower drawer and putting a fan in front of the oven? On some units they will shut down if they get too hot, to avoid damaging cabinets and surrounding items. If you circulate air around the unit, it could keep the outside cool enough till the inside finishes the cleaning job. It would not take much air circulation to cool it too.

Google Kitchen Aid self cleaning oven and F1 error code and you will see that they have a big problem with them....my sister in law has had to have hers replaced 5 times in the last 3 years....

Best response so far~
It's a slide in gas range and the oven door locks until they put in a new breaker. They can't reset it. It gets hot so I turn the exhaust fan on above it, crack open all the cabinets next to it and open the bottom pan drawer (the hot air blows out here) for heat to escape. My old oven would do a self clean cycle in the same place, so it's something with this one. It was pretty cool in my house Saturday, had the air on, the ceiling fan near the stove, the exhaust fan above it and a air cleaner running and blowing cool air. How much more circulation could this thing need?
It gets a hour or hour and a half and pop! the oven is off.

Why do you need to clean it? Rich says you always get carry-out....
But, I need a place to warm them back up when we have leftovers. Smart pance.

Smack me in the head.....if I would have only known, lol.
(although not sure if this is the same model as yours)
Yep, I have the black one.....I started to search forums for complaints this morning, but got busy doing other stuff. Thanks...
This time the fan in it shut off first, then a few later the breaker blew.
